Job Description - Senior Accountant

We’re Scan.com, the digital health scale-up making diagnostics accessible, fast, and transparent. Our technology speeds up diagnoses for timely treatments, improving healthcare outcomes for hundreds of patients each day.

We’re doing diagnostics differently, with a portfolio of brands tailored to both patients and providers, all backed by our world-class customer operations team. Our B2C marketplace simplifies booking a scan, making it as straightforward for patients as booking a hotel. Our B2B platforms provide live scheduling at the point of care and harness AI to ease workflows for physicians, attorneys, and providers.

The Senior Accountant role will be central to our finance team, reporting to our Accounting Manager, and will deliver trusted, accurate financial statements and reporting.


WHAT YOU WILL BE GETTING INVOLVED IN:

The Senior Accountant will be a key member of our finance team, partnering closely with the team to deliver accurate, timely, and trusted financial reporting. This role is critical in building scalable processes, strengthening internal controls, and supporting strategic decision-making as we continue to grow.

Financial Close & Reporting

  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.

  • Analyze trends, variances, and account activity to ensure financial accuracy.

  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to deliver accurate financial statements within tight deadlines.

  • Prepare and analyze financial reports to support management decision-making.

  • Support external audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.

  • Maintain and enforce internal controls to ensure compliance with UK GAAP, US GAAP, IFRS, and other regulatory requirements.


Process Optimization

  • Assist in developing and refining accounting policies to improve efficiency.

  • Drive efficiency through process improvements and automation initiatives.

  • Enhance data quality and scalability across finance systems and workflows.

Team Leadership

  • While the role will have no direct reports, the senior accountant will assist in developing junior staff into a proactive, solution-oriented team.


THE TOP 5 THINGS WE WANT YOU TO ACHIEVE IN YOUR FIRST YEAR ARE:

  1. Accelerate Close Process – Deliver monthly management accounts within 5 business days of the month-end.

  2. Improve Data Quality – Implement process improvements to enhance the accuracy and reliability of financial data.

  3. Optimize Systems & Automation – Reduce manual touchpoints and streamline workflows for scalability.

  4. Strengthen Controls – Design and implement a robust, documented, and automated control environment

  5. Build a High-Performing Team – Develop and mentor the junior staff into a trusted, solution-oriented partner for the greater organization.


WHAT YOU MIGHT BRING TO THE TABLE:

  • A deep understanding of accounting principles and best practices to ensure accurate and compliant financial reporting.

  • Comfortable with tight month-end close deadlines and the ability to deliver against deadlines.

  • Experience in a supervisory role, managing and developing an accounting team.

  • Experience in dealing with internal and external auditors.

  • Public accounting experience preferred.

  • CPA or equivalent qualification preferred.

  • Advanced proficiency with Excel for financial analysis.

  • Experience working in a high-growth business, ideally in a multi-entity environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
