The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, performing complex account reconciliations, supporting monthâend and yearâend close processes, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. This role plays a key part in financial reporting, audit support, and process improvement initiatives within the finance function.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
Perform general accounting functions, including preparation of journal entries, and reconciliations for general ledger, balance sheet, and income statement accounts
Prepare fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, disposals, and reconciliation
Support monthâend and yearâend close processes, ensuring deadlines are met and financial data is accurate and complete
Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded in the general ledger in accordance with GAAP
Assist with annual external audits, including preparation of supporting schedules and workpapers
Assist with tax, regulatory reporting, and compliance requirements as needed
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and efficiency
Maintain and document accounting procedures and internal controls
Collaborate crossâfunctionally with finance, payroll, operations, and external partners
Participate in and support special accounting projects as assigned
Position Requirements
Attention to detail with strong analytical and problemâsolving skills
Strong understanding of accounting concepts and financial reporting principles
Accountability for accurate, timely, and highâquality work
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to resolve issues and assertively communicate when needed
Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information with discretion
Adaptable and flexible; able to adjust priorities as business needs change
Ability to work with a sense of urgency and consistently meet deadlines
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Accounting required
Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience
Public accounting experience a plus
Strong knowledge of GAAP
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Experience with ERP or accounting software (e.g., Eclipse, Oracle, Great Plains, Peachtree, or similar systems)
