Job Summary

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for recording mortgage accounting transactions, reconciling general ledger accounts, and assisting with cash management.

Job Duties

At all times, assigned accounting responsibilities should be completed with the following principles:

• Adhere to and improve upon streamlined procedures
• Follow and enforce company and department policies, including segregation of duties
• Ensure timely and accurate recording of all transactions into the General Ledger
• Monitor and research discrepancies that may arise

Specific focus areas include, but are not limited to:

• Monitor cash balances and ensure adequate cash balances are maintained in Company accounts; Participate in the process of bank transfers and wires
• Process periodic commission calculations and timely accruals of commissions and other loan related compensation;
• Assist with setting up and monitoring commission profiles in Company commission software;
• Month End Close reconciliations, including Bank Statement reconciliations and other reconciliations of General Ledger accounts;
• Identify, research and resolve aged and/or uncleared balances in all assigned accounts

May also assist with:

• Daily mortgage loan accounting transactions, including Loan Fundings & Loan Sales
• Daily warehouse bank settlements (pay-downs) and related accounting transactions
• Daily reconciliations of & cash transfers for borrower escrow account balances

Competencies

• Microsoft Excel proficient: Should know how to maintain data integrity inside of large data files, should be proficient using Sum, Subtotal, SumIfs, Sort, Filter, Formatting, Pivot Tables, and V-Lookup and/or IndexMatch functions;
• Attention to detail and high level of care toward accuracy of transactions
• Able to work quickly and with high volume of transactions, never sacrifices accuracy for speed
• Comfortable working independently
• Positive Can-Do attitude
• Ability to look for process improvements and come up with solutions within Company software

Work Environment

This is a hybrid position. Senior Accountant should plan to work at the Corporate HQ office in Richardson, TX. Remote work will be allowed on occasion, but must be pre-approved by the Accounting Manager. This role will require the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopy machines, fax machines, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

• Mortgage related accounting experience desired, 1-2 year minimum OR 3-5 years experience in a senior accounting role with specific focus on Balance Sheet reconciliations and a large volume of data;
• Strong attention to detail and confidentiality
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
• Loan Vision Accounting system preferred, but not required
• Encompass Loan Origination System experience preferred, but not required
