Job Description - Senior Accountant/Accounting Manager

Overview of the Function
The Accounts team is responsible for all aspects of Accounting including, but not limited to, Billing, Collections, Accounts Payable, Expense Reporting, Financial Reporting, Budgeting, Client Money and Data Analysis. The team is comprised of 18 members and is growing to support the increasing demands of the fee earners, local management and global management. This increasing demand is a direct result of the firm's continued expansion in the U.S.
Role summary/purpose of job
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the preparation of monthly financial statements, monitoring and management of the US TB and chart of accounts, participation in preparation and review of local budgets, US partnership accounting, local tax filings and generating performance reports.
Key responsibilities and deliverables
* Follow the firm's established accounting processes
* Support accounts payable activities to ensure accuracy and timeliness of invoice entry and payment
* Support accounts receivable activities to ensure accuracy and timely processing of check, ACH and wire receipts
* Prepare and record entries to the general ledger
* Perform monthly bank reconciliations
* Regularly maintain detailed reconciliations and schedules of all balance sheet accounts
* Provide detailed analyses and explanations of all transactions
* Prepare documentation for external auditors
* Liase with other support departments to provide monthly budget reports and analysis of transactions impacting budgets
* Liase with Global Finance Team located in U.K.
* Respond to inquiries and ad-hoc analysis
Key requirements (Communication/skills/experience)
Essential
* Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required
* 4+ years' experience in accounting field
* Knowledge of accounting principles, policies and practices
* Understanding of income statements, balance sheets, general ledger, accounts receivable, and accounts payable
* Experience with 3E
* Proficient in Word and Excel
* Strong written and oral communication skills
* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
* Strong organizational and analytical skills
* Able to read and understand technical forms and financial reports
* Willingness to establish and maintain effective working relationships
* Must be a team player
Desirable
* CPA
* Experience in Law firm Accounting preferred

This compensation range is specific to the States of New York and California and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $100,000 to $130,000.
