Senior Accounting Analyst

The Senior Accounting Analyst is responsible for helping to maintain and oversee the accounting and financial systems for Ford Field. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Senior Accounting Analyst position will have daily responsibilities including, without limitation, the following:

• Serve as the primary Finance contact for The Detroit Lions Foundation, including budgeting, forecasting, accounting and reporting. Stay up to date on and ensure implementation & compliance with non-profit accounting regulations and pronouncements, controls and applicable laws.


• Assist with revenue recognition, budget and reporting for the Partnership Department, and others as they become relevant. Generate and analyze customer profitability reports to assist the departments with margin analyses and decision making.


• Review and record third party operator monthly settlements.


• Record journal entries to the general ledger. Perform data collection from business unit managers required to close the monthly general ledger. Prepare both month-end and year-end account analyses, adjusting entries, and audit work papers. Assist with the preparation of NFL reports, where applicable.


• Prepare various reconciliations (i.e. bank and other general ledger account reconciliations).


• Generate ad hoc financial and management reports, recommending and implementing enhancements where applicable.


• Prepare annual department budgets and periodic forecasts.


• Serve as a secondary resource for event settlements. Utilize Ticketmaster and other applicable systems in reporting and assist with stadium event settlements as needed.


• Perform duties in an efficient, professional, and courteous manner, maintaining high standards at all times.


• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with clients, co-workers, guests, and the public. Display the organizational values of the Club in daily tasks, relationships & interactions. Focus on development of club leadership attributes and work to achieve individual, department and Club goals.

NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Identify & communicate areas for process improvement as they relate to core job duties.


• Ability to provide information, both orally and in writing, in a clear, concise, and tactful manner, using correct English.


• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and stay organized.


• Ability to meet deadlines and take direction.


• Knowledge in report writing and creating excel based work papers.


• Will accept other responsibilities and duties required by the supervisor consistent with the objectives and essential functions of this position. Such responsibilities shall be incorporated into the position description if they are ongoing.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.


• 3+ years of responsible accounting experience, preferably including public accounting.


• Working knowledge of GAAP


• Skilled in MS Excel, Word and Windows programs


• Working knowledge of Sage Intacct.


• Strong analytical skills.


• Other combinations of training and/or experience that can be demonstrated to result in the possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position may also be considered.


• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays


• May require work out of both the Ford Field Management Office and the Meijer Performance Center


• A valid Driver’s License and good driving record
