Join our Accounting team in a highly visible role supporting financial planning & analysis, month-end close, and financial reporting, with a strong emphasis on cross-functional partnership and process improvement. Success in this role requires the ability to balance analytical rigor with operational partnership, while supporting scalable processes that enable organic growth and acquisitions.
Essential Functions:
Prepare and deliver weekly and monthly management reporting packages
Analyze financial and operational KPIs and clearly communicate trends and drivers
Perform variance analysis and translate results into actionable business insights
Support executive-level summaries and board and investor materials
Perform ad hoc financial analysis and support special projects as needed
Lead portions of the annual budget, rolling forecasts, and long-range planning processes
Develop quarterly forecasts, including analysis versus budget, prior forecast, and prior year
Partner with business leaders to understand key performance drivers, risks, and opportunities
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and initiate enhancements to existing financial and reporting processes
Work effectively across multiple systems, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Support month-end close processes, ensuring results are accurate and timely
Support financial due diligence for mergers and acquisitions and assist with post-acquisition system and process integration
Assist in developing consistent and scalable month-end close processes as future acquisitions are integrated
Participate in cross-functional training to support team members and enhance departmental knowledge
Collaborate with cross-functional departments to support operational and financial initiatives
Skills Required for Success
Ability to adjust communication style to suit different audiences and clearly explain complex financial topics internally and externally
Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize responsibilities and manage competing deadlines
Self-motivated with a positive attitude and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel; experience with MS Great Plains is a plus
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with exceptional attention to detail
Ability to perform under pressure while meeting deadlines and maintaining a positive, service-oriented mindset
Strong communication and organizational skills with continuous improvement orientation
Knowledge of transportation management systems and the transportation industry is a plus
Education and experience requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting
3–5 years FP&A experience, including financial analysis and reporting
Transportation industry or M&A experience preferred
