About the role

Responsible for exploring and developing new business opportunities, managing the successful development of offers, building strong and effective relationships with appropriate partner/supplier contacts and project managing specific elements of strategic projects, whilst exercising a sound combination of commercial and technical rigor to help achieve BP's growth objectives.

Please note this role can be performed at our Houston, Chicago, or Washington D.C. offices.

Key Accountabilities

Identify and review future transmission development and opportunities that can influence opportunities for the BP low carbon growth plan (renewables, hydrogen, biofuels, EVs) and influence the direction of the development pipeline.
Assist and manage developing transmission expansion views across markets as input into BP's long-term fundamental model, including scenarios and sensitivities.
Assist and lead long term modeling for various markets using nodal dispatch models.
Contribute to power flow analysis to identify constrained transmission lines under various market scenarios.
Develop and lead understanding and evaluation of potential interconnection alternatives for various projects.
If necessary, participate in bp interconnection requests support through the study process, negotiation, and execution of interconnection agreements.
Evaluate interconnection study results.
Collaborate with other team on zonal modeling, portfolio optimization, regulatory support and marketing.
Assist in developing strong working knowledge of regional transmission systems and providers.

Essential Education

Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or related/similar field required. Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering or related/similar field strongly preferred

Essential Experience

Preferred 5+ years of transmission congestion modeling experience (experience can inform the hiring grade level) using Dayzer, Promod, Plexos, Aurora, Uplan, or other (including in-house models and academic environment) models.
Exposure to power flow simulations.
Working knowledge of major power markets, including market stakeholder processes.
Demonstrated group leadership skills.
