About BizTech Fusion

BizTech Fusion is hiring a Senior Aerospace Cybersecurity Engineer on behalf of one of its clients to support critical cybersecurity initiatives across aerospace and defense programs.

We are looking for an experienced cybersecurity professional with strong expertise in aerospace cybersecurity, embedded systems security, hardware security, threat modeling, cryptography, vulnerability management, and secure development.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with aerospace or avionics systems and the ability to independently lead cybersecurity assessments, security architecture activities, secure development initiatives, and technical discussions with customers and engineering teams.

Role Overview

The Senior Aerospace Cybersecurity Engineer will join a Cybersecurity Center of Excellence and lead cybersecurity activities supporting aerospace and defense programs.

This role will focus on threat modeling, cybersecurity risk assessments, security architecture, embedded and hardware security, secure development, vulnerability management, compliance, and customer-facing cybersecurity engagements.

The position will support both federal and commercial aerospace initiatives and may involve hands-on laboratory testing and occasional travel to customer or aircraft locations.

Mandatory Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional cybersecurity engineering experience.
  • 3+ years of experience specifically in aerospace cybersecurity.
  • Strong experience with:
  • Aerospace threat modeling and cybersecurity risk assessments
  • Embedded systems security
  • Hardware security
  • Root-of-trust concepts
  • Cryptography and code signing
  • Secure boot and secure firmware updates
  • Vulnerability management
  • Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Knowledge of aerospace and cybersecurity standards, including:
  • DO-326A / ED-202A
  • DO-356A
  • NIST Cybersecurity Framework
  • FIPS 140-3
  • Experience supporting ITAR-controlled environments and/or federal aerospace programs.
  • Strong analytical, technical communication, and documentation skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead cybersecurity activities for aerospace and avionics programs.
  • Perform cybersecurity threat modeling, risk assessments, and security architecture reviews.
  • Support secure software and firmware development activities.
  • Work with code signing, cryptography, secure boot, and secure firmware update mechanisms.
  • Conduct cybersecurity testing, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing.
  • Define cybersecurity controls and security measures for:
  • Aerospace embedded systems
  • Avionics systems
  • Controllers
  • Aircraft platforms
  • Support compliance with aerospace, federal, and cybersecurity requirements.
  • Review customer cybersecurity requirements, RFIs, and RFQs.
  • Contribute to technical proposals and cybersecurity solution development.
  • Interface with customers, federal contractors, program teams, and internal engineering organizations.
  • Lead technical discussions and provide cybersecurity guidance to engineering teams.
  • Support laboratory-based cybersecurity testing and validation.
  • Participate in occasional on-site customer and aircraft assessments.
  • Develop and maintain cybersecurity documentation, assessments, and technical reports.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting FAA, DoD, defense, or commercial aerospace programs.
  • Knowledge of aircraft control systems and avionics.
  • Experience with aerospace hardware security architectures.
  • Experience working with embedded controllers and safety-critical systems.
  • Familiarity with federal cybersecurity requirements and regulated environments.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to work from a cybersecurity laboratory in Pittsburgh, PA.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10–15% as required for customer engagements, testing, and field assessments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to independently lead technical discussions and customer engagements.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a hands-on Senior Cybersecurity Engineer with deep aerospace and avionics experience who can independently lead cybersecurity assessments, threat modeling, hardware and embedded security activities, secure development initiatives, and customer-facing technical engagements.

Experience working with ITAR-controlled programs, federal aerospace projects, aircraft systems, embedded security, and aerospace cybersecurity standards is highly valued.
