Senior Analyst, Capital Markets

BioMed Realty is seeking a motivated individual to join its Capital Markets team, responsible for a broad range of activities related to the origination and servicing of the company’s debt financings. Key responsibilities include financial analysis, due diligence for secured financings, and ongoing debt servicing. The role requires strong cross-functional collaboration with internal teams including Accounting, Finance, Asset Management, Operations, and Legal, as well as external partners at Blackstone. This individual will be an integral part of the Capital Markets team, with regular exposure to BioMed’s Executive Management and senior leadership at Blackstone.

Key Duties and Responsibilities 

• Assist in execution of secured debt transactions to finance acquisitions, developments, and opportunistic refinancings across a variety of capital sources including banks, life companies, securitization market and debt funds


• Support preparation of valuation, underwriting materials and offering memoranda for financing transactions, collaborating with in-house BioMed teams, Blackstone Capital Markets and brokers


• Produce presentations outlining capital markets initiatives and recommendations to a variety of internal/external stakeholders


• Address financing due diligence and Q&A, plus facilitate all property tours and third-party due diligence include property condition, environment and seismic reports


• Coordinate loan closings, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of closing statement and other required documentation


• Review and evaluate financial terms, operational structure and loan documentation alongside team and counsel throughout the transaction process


• Maintain lender and servicer relationships as part of ongoing asset management dialogues including collateral performance, consents, releases, extensions and future advances in conjunction with construction work and milestones


• Monitor loan covenants with accounting and work with the Capital Markets team to maintain future projections around debt yield, DSCR and other debt covenants for each BioMed loan


• Collaborate with internal groups to ensure Capital Markets has the most up-to-date company wide information when reviewing strategic objectives and evaluation of new debt financing opportunities


• Assist in the development of the Company’s hedging strategy and its execution

Education & Experience Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Real Estate, Finance, or a related discipline


• 4+ years of experience in either finance or real estate


• High proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Argus


• Ability to work effectively across functions and organizational levels and within team environment


• Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously and to work under tight deadlines


• Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills


• Knowledge of underwriting real estate fundamentals and accounting, cash flow models and DCF valuation techniques, sensitivity analysis on rents, value, and interest rates

Salary: $100,000 - $120,000 per year + bonus + long term incentive + benefits
