Job Description - Senior Architectural Designer Chewy Vet Care

Our Opportunity:

Chewy is dedicated to being the most trusted and convenient online destination for pet parents (and partners), everywhere. On the Chewy Vet Care team, we embrace this vision (and our pets!) as we craft and build Chewy Vet Care veterinary clinics. We craft physical experiences that delight Pet Parents, Pets, and the Veterinarian Team that cares for them. We build and construct spaces that empower them to keep pets happy and healthy. As a team of hard-working, collaborative, and fun-loving designers, architects, and builders, we’re looking for creative and driven talent to join the pack.

We are seeking a Senior Architectural Designer – Chewy Vet Care in our Bellevue, WA office to lead clinic development. In this role, the designer serves as a bridge between strategy and execution—translating evolving customer needs and business priorities into functional, scalable, and compliant physical spaces. With deep cross-functional collaboration and a focus on operational efficiency, this position helps scale Chewy’s national clinic presence through thoughtful, brand-aligned spatial solutions.

What You'll Do:

Design Strategy & Execution

  • Serve as a Rollout Designer focused on high-volume, repeatable retail design projects, ensuring consistency and efficiency across multiple locations.

  • Translate customer and business goals into purposeful, simple, and buildable spaces.

  • Ensure solutions align with timeline and budget constraints.

  • Develop multiple viable design solutions tailored to various real estate types.

  • Ensure all solutions balance creativity with cost, timeline, and operational efficiency.

  • Drive design decision-making with action and clear prioritization.

End-to-End Project Management

  • Lead all phases of the design process: Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documentation, and Construction Administration.

  • Coordinate with third-party AOR/EOR and internal work partners throughout the project lifecycle.

Collaboration & Work Partner Engagement

  • Work closely with business partners, product managers, marketers, and designers.

  • Manage third-party services, vendor relationships, project budgets, timelines, and quality.

  • Communicate design decisions and rationale effectively to a range of customers, including C-suite executives.

Brand & Experience Consistency

  • Champion cohesion across Chewy Vet Care’s portfolio of clinics.

  • Simplify design processes to ensure a unified and consistent customer experience.

Culture & Team Leadership

  • Foster and embody Chewy’s culture and design principles within your team.

  • Serve as a design leader, mentoring peers and influencing design standards across the organization.

What You'll Need:

Experience & Leadership

  • 7+ years of experience in architecture, roll out design/production, interior design, concept design, or similar roles.

  • 5+ years of experience leading large-scale design initiatives through ambiguity and evolving business needs.

Technical Skills & Tools

  • Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, Enscape, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.

  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality, accurate drawing sets that reflect strong design skills.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Proven experience clearly presenting and communicating complex design challenges to internal and external work partner partners.

  • Skilled at articulating the customer and business impact of design decisions.

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Interior Design, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Equivalent professional experience in the design or AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) industry considered.

Work Environment & Travel:

  • Willingness and ability to travel as required.

  • Role involves a mix of on-site presence and time in the local office.

Work Arrangement:

  • Hybrid Model: 3 days in hub location per week

  • Remote: This role is NOT a remote role.
