Senior Assisted Living Manager

• Must have three years' of Assisted Living Management experience

• Full Time / Monday-Friday / 8:00am-5:00pm
• This position may occasionally require availability outside of regular business hours to address operational needs, support critical issues, or respond to time-sensitive matters. 

Position Summary: 

Under the direction of the Executive Director, has overall responsibility for administrative and managerial work in leading, developing, directing, and coordinating assisted living services which support the vision, mission and values of Royal Oaks and in keeping with the responsibilities and ethical expectations of the Board of Licensure for Assisted Living Mangers. Exercises administrative supervision over functions relating to the Assisted Living Facility.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Supervises exempt and non-exempt staff. 
• Actively engages in new employee selection, interviewing, hiring, and ensuring that initial and ongoing training/orientation programs are in place. 
• Follows the organization’s Human Resources procedures with employee interviewing, hiring, training, coaching, delivering corrective action, evaluating performance and termination. This list is not all inclusive, and you are encouraged to consult with Human Resources with any questions or concerns.
• Addresses and resolves complaints and problems and coordinates with Human Resources for any actions related to discipline and termination.
• Develop and maintain a high level of staff morale and motivation, allowing for opportunities for learning and growth. 

Brief Overview of Major Duties:

• Manages and participates in day-to-day operational functions of resident services as applicable for ensuring Supervisory, Personal and Direct Care as regulated by the Arizona Department of Health Services. 
• If not the Arizona Department of Health Services-Residential Licensing designated Manager of record for AL 4590C (all Royal Oaks Assisted Living areas: Eleganta Pointe Assisted Living Apartments, Memory Care and Care Center), will collaborate with and defer to the Manager of record for any incidents, policy and procedures, operational protocols, etc. that require communication with the department or directly impact regulations and licensure. 
• Works with the Health Services Staffing Coordinators by keeping them informed of new hires, changes in employment status, terminations, and regulatory requirements and provides information on staff training assignments, preferences of staff rotations, and floating assignments. 
• Ensures quality resident care through the development, periodic review and implementation of policies and programs that support resident safety, dignity, and wellbeing. 
• Works collaboratively with the Assisted Living staff to develop and enhance the Assisted Living community.
• Assist employees in utilizing appropriate techniques, tools and assessments for effective identification and delivery of services to meet the needs of the residents. 
• Identifies areas of need for staff education in professional and ethical expectations and provides positive and reinforcement of corrective actions to maintain a quality living environment for residents. 
• Initiates or delegates the timely completion of Admission Service Agreements, ensures the development and maintenance of an accurate and complete Service Plan for each resident in the Assisted Living Facility, notifies responsible parties, and resident physicians of changes requiring medical intervention or change in level of services provided.
• Keeps responsible parties informed of the Assisted Living Scope of Services and assist with moves to appropriate levels of care when the residents exceed the level of care provided in this setting. 
• Interacts effectively with interdepartmental staff in the Health Services continuum to ensure efficiency in transfers in and out of Assisted Living, fitness or therapy services, community resources such as home health, wound consulting, hospice services, and other services when needed to effectively provide a holistic range of care and support. 
• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the State regulations for Assisted Living Centers to include survey compliance. Acquires and maintains an unencumbered manager certification.
• Responsible for reviewing and/or discussing contractual arrangement proposals, policy, procedures, standards and operational matters related to any contractual arrangement with the Executive Director prior to initiating any contractual agreements. 
• Works with the Executive Director to develop and manage the department’s budget, ensuring that operations and projects comply with budgetary constraints, while adequately allocating resources and expenditures to ensure optimum program/project success.
• Stays informed of trade and legal developments relevant to the department. 
• Conduct meetings with staff, vendors, and other key project partners to facilitate a teamwork approach. 
• Attends and participates in management training activities, seminars, and meetings to include, but not limited to, SPARK, Quality Assurance, IDT, Staff meetings, skills training, association conferences when budgeted, and others as the need arises.
• Committee reporting; Provide objective, relevant, reliable and timely reports that assist the committee in the decision-making process.
• When necessary, attends to the individual needs of residents, which may include assistance with grooming, bathing, incontinent care, toileting, colostomy care, prosthetic appliances, transferring, ambulation, range of motion, communicating, urinary catheter care, blood glucose monitoring, vital sign monitoring, laundry assistance or service, nutrition service, life enriching activities, or other needs in keeping with each individual’s care requirement.
• When necessary, lifts, moves, and transports residents, using proper body mechanics or lifting devices.
• Required to operate/drive a golf cart and/or other company vehicles for the purpose of transporting supplies around campus as needed. This may also include transporting employees, residents and/or guests when needed. 
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Strong leadership and consensus building skills; assisted living or long-term care management and strategic planning experience.
• Knowledge of current assisted living regulations, principles, and practices.
• Excellent oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal skills. 
• Strong computer proficiency skills.
• Organized, able to multi-task, think creatively, and adapt to different situations.
• Ability to react successfully and calmly to any situation that may present itself with a resident, guest, co-worker, or employee. 
• Has outstanding communication skills; can dramatically and effectively communicate an overall vision of the enterprise to employees at all levels: importantly, can translate a vision of the organization’s future into practical, concrete specifics.
• Has the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 
• Must be able to complete training on computers and/or other devices.
• Maintain competency in the position and knowledge of trade/industry advances and new technologies.
• Must be able to effectively communicate in English with all levels of staff, residents, and guests. 

Education and Experience:

• Preferably a bachelor’s degree in Health Care, Social Work, Business Administration or related field. 
• Has a minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in an assisted living environment, preferably in group residential care for seniors, including managerial responsibilities.

Licenses and Certifications:

• Has a current and unencumbered Arizona NCIA Board Manager Certificate or obtained within 90 days of assuming the position.
• Has current CPR/First Aid certification card obtained in a classroom setting and in compliance with or endorsed by American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or National Safety Council guidelines.
• Has current and valid Fingerprint clearance card or apply for one within 20 days of hire.
• Has current, valid driver’s license. Driving record must meet the criteria set forth by Royal Oaks’ insurance carrier. 
• Has a Certificate of Completion for memory care services training or obtains within 30 days of hire and complies with annual certification requirements.

Physical Requirements:

• Is able to carry/lift/push/pull up to 30 pounds.
• May need to operate a fire extinguisher.
• Is able to assist in evacuation procedures. 
• Can tolerate exposure to physical hazards including potential exposure to bodily fluids and associated pathogens/infectious disease, as well as potential exposure to chemicals.
