Senior Backend Engineer Reliability & Observability Focus

Role Overview

We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who will also lead reliability and observability initiatives across the engineering org. This role belongs to the Core Engineering team and focuses on building scalable backend systems and ensuring their production reliability.

What You’ll Do

• Build and maintain reliable backend services with TypeScript, NestJS, and cloud-native tools.
• Define and track KPIs for service health and performance.
• Improve and own observability across services (metrics, logs, alerts).
• Act as a first responder for critical production issues, coordinating with DevOps and other teams.
• Automate detection and remediation workflows for incidents.
• Continuously improve on-call processes and postmortem culture.
• Work closely with DevOps on performance tuning and infrastructure stability.

You Bring

• Strong software engineering background (TypeScript, Node.js, microservices.
• Experience operating systems in production at scale.
• Proficiency with observability stacks like Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK.
• Deep understanding of Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with AWS/GCP/Azure for infrastructure and system insights.
• Ability to script and automate reliability and operational tasks.
• Excellent communicator—especially when things go sideways.
