Senior Bioinformatics Engineer

Scale Biosciences seeks a Senior Bioinformatics Engineer, a full time, on site position, at 5601 Oberlin Drive, Ste 110, San Diego, CA 92121. 

Responsibilities:

Responsible for developing a novel single cell analysis platform for a wide range of applications in science and medical research. Design and implement software for data analysis, visualization, interpretation, incorporating state of the art algorithms and machine learning models. Design, implement, and support analysis software for our single cell platform. Develop visualization and interpretation tools for novel complex data. Implement and benchmark algorithms that can scale to unprecedented single cell datasets. Participate in improving the technology from internal R& D to the final customer application. Maintain cloud infrastructure for supporting analysis of novel single cell data generated from company products. Developing scientific analysis workflows using workflow management software including Nextflow Develop relational databases for genomic data on public cloud platforms using AWS services. 

Minimum Requirements: 

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, computational biology or a related field. 2 years experience in the job offered or related occupation in software development working with biological data to include all relevant job titles. Must have at least 1 (one) year of academic or industry experience in the following: Working with multi-terabyte genomics datasets; Optimizing analysis software for genomic data on cloud compute platforms, such as AWS (Amazon Web Services) or GCP (Google Cloud Platform); Developing relational databases for genomic data on public cloud platforms; Developing bioinformatics workflows using Python and Nextflow; Using AWS services including AWS EC2, AWS Lambda, AWS S3, AWS Batch, AWS Aurora, and AWS IAM. 40 hrs./wk. Salary: $135,000 to $180,442.00 per year. EOE
