Job Description - Senior Calibration Technician (Utah Scales Center)

The Role: 

We are seeking an experienced Senior Calibration Technician to join our team! 

The ideal candidate has well-rounded precision measurement device calibration experience and will be able to work independently to calibrate various equipment across differing fields and environments that covers calibrations in many disciplines. These include a wide variety of instruments such as: calipers, micrometers, torque instruments and transducers, pressure gauges, scales and analytical balances, pH meters, temperature/humidity instruments, electronic meters, and many others. We service a wide variety of customers across many industries, which requires a broad cross-section of skills. 

In addition to hands-on calibration, the ideal candidate will be able to lead as a mentor to the team and guide less experienced technicians in solving complex problems. If this sounds like an exciting opportunity, we would love to connect with you! 

As a Senior Service Technician, you will travel to various customer’s locations in the Salt Lake City and surrounding areas to execute various forms of maintenance to devices by servicing and calibrating their equipment. Your day to day would include inspecting, maintaining, calibrating and repairing mechanical and electronic equipment to ensure the accuracy and reliability of equipment in all environments. 

Location: On-site at various customer sites in the Salt Lake City Area 

Day to Day Responsibilities: 

  • Perform all duties in accordance with ISO 17025 
  • Inspecting, maintaining, calibrating and repairing mechanical and electronic measurement equipment
  • Complete accurate and timely calibrations and repairs on customer sites
  • Perform routine and complex repairs and calibration on a wide variety of tools per company processes and instruction documentation
  • Perform repairs and calibrations on various equipment in accordance with established procedures and standards
  • Working directly with client throughout the process from first onsite touch point to completion of project, including great communication to provide client updates to services needed 
  • Ensure all activities comply with industry regulations and quality standards
  • Collect and measure data to support calibration traceability & documentation 
  • Maintain records and documentation, ensuring all data is accurate and up to date
  • Interact professionally with customers, providing excellent service and support

Basic Qualifications: 

  • 5 years + of experience as a Calibration Technician 
  • Technical understanding of PMDs and advanced troubleshooting skills  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills  
  • Able to lift 50lbs, with no physical limitations on your hands, back or legs 
  • Able to climb, kneel, drive and stand for long periods of time 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word 
  • Excellent customer service skills 
  • Good organizational and prioritization skills 
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record 
  • Basic math skills with attention to details 
  • Ability and willingness to travel to customers’ locations in Salt Lake City, Utah and surrounding areas 

 

Nice to have: 

  • Calibration Experience within ISO 17025 Quality Systems 
  • Knowledge of principles, procedures, methods and techniques in metrology gained through education, or professional experience  
  • Knowledge and experience with Electrical, Physical, and/or Mechanical Calibration of equipment 
  • Experience working with Manufacturers Quality Systems 
  • Associate's degree in engineering, electronics or other technical fields 
  • Technical Degree or Certificate 
  • Military PMEL Training 
  • Metrology experience 
  • Experience with IndySoft
