Position Role Type:
Onsite The modification and upgrade (MAU) team is a division of Collins Aerospace responsible for incorporating changes to in-service aircraft interiors, including commercial seating, cabin attendant seating, galleys, etc. In doing so, we extend the life of Collins products on airplanes and improve airline and passenger satisfaction.
The senior certification engineer position on the MAU team is for a technical leader with knowledge of aircraft interiors certification. This position supports our aircraft integration activity to certify and deliver modifications and replacement parts through PMA and STC approvals.
Primary Responsibilities:
The senior certification engineer is primarily responsible for leading certification activities for MAU projects in support of PMA and STC approvals on modification and replacement parts. This includes responsibility for the following actives.
Coordinate with external stakeholders for aircraft integration programs including the FAA, DERs/DARs/DIMRs, ODA Unit Members, Customers, etc
Coordinate internal teams of engineers to show compliance with design, structural, flammability, and systems requirements.
Facilitate certification testing and conformity inspections to support compliance showings.
Generate and check certification plans and other compliance documents.
Provide technical leadership and coordinate with a cross function team of engineering, certification, program management in a fast-pace, customer focused environment.
Participate in training to grow talent and process development.
Review proposed projects for feasibility, cost, and leadtime.
Participate as a team player across the organization and further the values and vision of the organization.
Basic Qualifications:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 1 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 8 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
3-5 years of experience in

certification/testing

and aircraft cabin interiors.
Familiarity with testing and substantiation for Structures, Design & Construction, Flammability, and Systems requirements
Working knowledge of certification under 14 CFR Part 21 and Part 25
Knowledge for TSO/PMA/STC/TC qualification and certification.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Clear communication and technical leadership skills

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
