Senior Civil Engineer – Land Development
Location: Los Angeles, CA 90017
Salary: $140,000 – $190,000 per year
About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer / Senior Project Manager to lead complex land development projects from initial planning through construction support. This is an excellent opportunity for a licensed Professional Engineer who enjoys managing multidisciplinary teams, building strong client relationships, and delivering high quality engineering solutions on a variety of commercial, residential, mixed use, and public infrastructure projects.
This role is ideal for a technical leader who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about mentoring engineers while driving projects to successful completion.
Key Responsibilities
Manage land development projects from entitlement through construction support while ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Lead project planning, design, production, quality control, scheduling, and overall project execution.
Meet with clients to define project scope, prepare proposals and fee estimates, conduct site investigations, and establish project schedules.
Maintain strong relationships with existing clients while supporting new business development opportunities.
Supervise and mentor Project Managers and engineering staff, providing technical guidance and leadership.
Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and oversee engineering design throughout all project phases.
Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, regulations, and permitting requirements.
Support staff development through coaching, training, and performance management.
Monitor project budgets, profitability, and resource allocation.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
Minimum of 10 years of progressive civil engineering experience, including significant project management experience.
Strong background in land development engineering.
Proven experience managing projects from entitlements through construction support.
Excellent leadership, communication, client management, and team-building skills.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Experience preparing project proposals, fee estimates, scopes of work, and schedules.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience
