WORK LOCATION: Huntsville, AL

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

SALARY RANGE: $86,500 to $115,000 / year

 

SUMMARY

The Senior Contract Administrator will oversee the administration, negotiation, and management of contracts in alignment with company policies and regulatory requirements. This role is critical in supporting the aerospace and defense sectors, ensuring compliance with government regulations and fostering strong relationships with clients and stakeholders. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The following job functions are a basic requirement but are not limited to and may be assigned other duties. 

  • Lead the full contract lifecycle, from drafting and negotiation through execution and compliance monitoring, ensuring alignment with company objectives and legal requirements. 
  • Conduct complex negotiations with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure favorable terms and conditions while minimizing risks. 
  • Ensure all contracts comply with applicable laws, regulations, and policies, including FAR/DFAR regulations relevant to the aerospace and defense industry. 
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of contract changes, amendments, and correspondence, ensuring accuracy and accessibility for audits and reviews. 
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders, including legal, finance, engineering, and project management teams, to facilitate contract execution and compliance. 
  • Identify potential risks associated with contracts and develop mitigation strategies to address them proactively. 
  • Provide guidance and training to junior contracts staff, promoting best practices in contract management and negotiation. 
  • Prepare and present regular reports on contract status, risks, and compliance issues to senior management. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s in Business Administration, Law or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CPCM, CCM) is preferred. 
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in contracts administration within the aerospace and defense industry, with a proven track record of managing complex contracts. 
  • Strong understanding of government contracting regulations (FAR/DFAR), contract law, and risk management principles. 
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills, able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Experience with international contracts and export compliance preferred.  
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.  
  • Proficient in contract management software and Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • Knowledge of project management principles.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS

This position may require access to information that is subject to compliance with the International Traffic Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”). To comply with the requirements of the ITAR and/or the EAR, applicants will be asked to provide specific documentation to verify a US person’s status under the ITAR and the EAR.

SALARY RANGE

The anticipated salary range for this role is 86,500 to $115,000 / year. This range reflects a good faith estimate based on the targeted level for the role and typical compensation benchmarks across U.S. locations. Actual compensation may vary depending on the selected candidate’s qualifications, experience, geographical location, and internal alignment. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The work environment may involve a standard office setting while also incorporating elements of a production area. Employees will use standard office equipment, including computers, and must demonstrate stamina to sit or stand while maintaining attention to detail despite potential interruptions. The role may require occasional activities such as walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and bending. Vision is necessary for reading printed materials and a computer screen, while hearing and speech are essential for effective communication both in person and over the telephone. Additionally, the position may necessitate travel by air or automobile. Employees may be required to use personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coats, to ensure safety in the production environment. Employees may be able to lift up to 30 pounds as needed.
