Job Description - Senior Data Analyst, FP&A

We are looking for a star analyst to join our Financial Planning & Analysis organization. It is a critical addition to the team that strives to lead the company towards financial reliability, scalability, and discipline. The team currently focuses on cross functional collaboration, forecast process optimization and automation, and most importantly, attracting top talent to support the increasing demand for actionable insights and guidance.

You will work closely with accounting, sales, product, data science, and other key partners during various data collection and analysis activities. While learning about Marqeta’s technical capabilities, unique product features, use cases, and ultimately economics, you can make significant contributions to our future success and build a rewarding career in the financial technology industry.

We work Flexible First. This role can be performed remotely anywhere within the United States or from our Oakland office. We’d love for you to join us!

The Impact You’ll Have

  • Collect and analyze structured and unstructured (financial and business) data from various sources such as Snowflake, Intacct ERP, SFDC and other internal systems to identify and interpret trends or patterns to support business decisions.

  • Develop data collection and appropriate analytical tools, models and processes.

  • Build and maintain analytics reporting that provide insights to business performance and key company metrics.

  • Assess and support internal customers’ needs for analytical support, using analytical skills and strategic thinking to help teams solve challenges, e.g. customer / transaction profitability analysis.

  • Be able to translate objectives to a project plan with milestones and resource requirements, and manage assigned projects independently.

  • Own data analysis and modeling work to drive high quality forecasting and variance analysis for a number of our customers.

  • Establish strong relationships with individual teams and cross functional business partners.

  • Help prepare data for materials related to management and investor communications.

  • Participate in initiatives and discussions as related to system integration, data infrastructure and governance, internal control, and process improvement, etc.

Who You Are

The ideal candidate should possess a solid background in analytical functions, have demonstrated success in supporting fast growing businesses, and can think creatively to find solutions to complex, often unstructured problems.

  • 3-5 years of experience working with SQL and relational data, especially with large-scale data and advanced SQL functions, e.g., window functions, complex joins, etc.

  • Ability to work with nuanced data and ambiguity, with a willingness to self-explore data structures.

  • Familiarity with Snowflake and advanced functionality such as Snowflake Machine Learning is a plus.

  • Solid grasp of financial and accounting concepts.

  • Experience working with Excel, ERPs, and financial planning and business intelligence tools.

  • Exposure to automating processes and data pipeline designs.

  • Familiar with modern IT business systems and proficient in data analytics tools and technologies.

  • Be able to build cross functional partnerships, being a strong team player.

  • Ability to develop communications and key messaging for stakeholders and senior management.
