The Opportunity

TECKpert’s client, a government agency in Tallahassee, FL, is seeking a Senior Data Architect to support a large-scale financial systems modernization initiative. This role plays a critical part in transitioning legacy financial data assets to a modern statewide accounting platform. The selected consultant will analyze, redesign, and remediate complex data models, ETL processes, and reporting structures to ensure alignment with new financial standards and cloud-first architecture objectives.

Primary job duties include, but are not limited to:

• Analyze existing financial data models, data marts, and general ledger structures to assess impacts from accounting system modernization
• Design and implement scalable, robust data models aligned with updated chart of accounts and standardized business processes
• Evaluate and enhance ETL processes to improve data quality, accuracy, and timeliness
• Implement data quality controls and automation for recurring data loads
• Collaborate with development teams to deploy updated data models and resolve integration issues
• Provide guidance on data visualization and financial reporting best practices
• Serve as a liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders
• Document data architecture, remediation strategies, and implementation plans
• Support cloud-first initiatives and ensure compatibility with modern cloud platforms
• Mentor team members and provide technical leadership in data architecture best practices

Compensation and Term 

This opportunity is for a full-time, contract position with possible extensions and pay commensurate with experience up to $180,000 per year. Medical, dental, vision and life insurance available after 30 days of hire.

Qualifications you need

A successful candidate has the following experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field.
• 7+ years of experience with large, complex database systems
• 7+ years of experience as a Data Architect or Senior Data Analyst
• 10+ years working with enterprise database platforms
• Strong experience with financial data systems and reporting
• Extensive experience with ETL tools and data warehousing
• Proven background in data quality management and governance
• Experience with data visualization and reporting tools
• Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences
• Experience with state or government financial systems
• Familiarity with modern cloud data platforms
• Experience with Informatica or similar data integration tools
• Background supporting large system modernization initiatives
