Senior Data Engineer

About This Opportunity

CTI Staffing is partnering with a leading transportation and logistics organization to find a Senior Data Engineer / Data Architect for their operational data platform team, based in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

This team is modernizing how operational data moves across the business, replacing legacy batch processes with real-time streaming pipelines that keep critical systems in sync. You'll design the domain models and governance frameworks that make this modernization possible, while also building the pipelines yourself. This is a hands-on architecture role, not a whiteboard-only position.

What You'll Do

• Architect scalable data ingestion and transformation pipelines for large-scale operational systems
  


• Build CDC and streaming solutions using Kafka or AWS MSK for real-time data synchronization
  


• Implement canonical domain models and governance frameworks across cloud platforms
  


• Establish data quality standards and monitoring practices
  


• Partner with cross-functional teams to define data requirements and integration strategy
  


• Lead CI/CD implementation for data infrastructure and pipeline deployments
  


• Mentor junior engineers on data architecture and engineering best practices
  

Requirements

What You Bring

Must-Have:

• 7+ years of professional experience in data architecture and design
  


• 5+ years of hands-on data engineering experience
  


• Demonstrated expertise in CDC (Change Data Capture) and streaming technologies
  


• Proficiency with Kafka or AWS MSK
  


• Strong experience with cloud platforms — Azure and/or AWS
  


• Proven expertise in data quality frameworks and governance practices
  


• Experience implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for data infrastructure
  


• Strong cross-team collaboration and communication skills
  

Nice-to-Have:

• Experience with AWS Flink for stream processing
  


• Knowledge of DocumentDB or other NoSQL document databases
  


• Familiarity with GraphQL for data API design
  


• Cross-cloud integration experience
  


• Background in data mesh or domain-driven design patterns
  

Technical Environment:

• Cloud: Azure, AWS
  


• Streaming: Kafka, AWS MSK, AWS Flink (preferred)
  


• Data modeling and governance tooling
  


• CI/CD pipelines for data infrastructure
  


• SQL and distributed computing frameworks (Spark or similar)
  

What Success Looks Like:

• Real-time CDC pipelines running in production within the first 3-6 months
  


• Canonical domain models established with clear governance ownership
  


• Junior engineers actively mentored on architecture and engineering standards
