Senior Designer, Plush [Contract]

What will you work on?
As a Senior Designer, you will focus primarily on plush and soft goods, bringing original IP, legacy GUND collections, and licensed properties from initial concept to final production. You will utilize your trend expertise, aesthetic eye, and strong character sketching abilities to design magical products and execute design direction seamlessly.

How will you create impact?

• Design new plush animals and characters, managing multiple projects and seasons simultaneously from concept ideation through final production.

• Lead design development for new concepts and licensing pitches by creating clean, communicative pitch decks and mood boards.

• Prepare and maintain specification documents and artwork files for soft goods printing and manufacturing.

• Research trends across fashion, home décor, toys, and materials to inform design rationale and character development.

• Review physical samples meticulously to maintain the highest level of product quality while balancing target costs.

• Partner cross-functionally with brand, engineering, packaging, and external vendors to ensure designs are executed seamlessly.

• Participate in occasional after-hours communication with overseas manufacturing partners (e.g., China) to maintain development schedules.

What are your skills and experience?

• Previous product design experience within consumer goods, toys, plush, or baby products.

• A proven track record of product development, bringing items from concept to on-shelf goods.

• Ability to create new characters that align with existing brands or kickstart entirely new brand identities.

• A strong 2D digital skillset, including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator), combined with strong hand-sketching abilities.

• A foundational understanding of interactive or animated toys is an asset.

• An understanding of CAD, sewing, flat patterns, or patternmaking is a major plus.

The anticipated pay range for candidates who will work in New York is $40.00 to $52.50 Per Hour. The offered pay to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to years of experience within the job, years of experience within the required industry, education, etc. Spin Master Inc. is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work only in other states.
