Senior Designer/Draftsman

The Senior Designer/Draftsman will support the development of designs for complex engineering systems, structures, and components for U.S. Navy submersibles and related systems, providing technical expertise in drafting and design from planning through to the execution and presentation of designs in graphic form or detailed models.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Develop designs for complex engineering systems, structure and components, including mechanical, electrical, and circuits

• Execute presentation of designs in graphics form or in detailed models

• Apply design and drafting techniques for engineering drawings

• Generate computer models using Computer Aided Design (CAD)/graphics software

• Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications

• Apply ASME drafting and drawings standards to all work products

• Support SEAL Delivery Vehicle (SDV) and Shallow Water Combat Submersible (SWCS) specific drafting requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

Five years of experience in developing designs for complex engineering systems, structures, and components, including mechanical, electrical, and circuit systems, from planning to the execution of the presentation of designs in graphics form or detailed models.

Required Skills:

• Background in design and drafting techniques

• Engineering drawings proficiency

• Computer Aided Design (CAD)/graphics in recent versions of AutoCAD and/or Solidworks

• Generating computer models

• Reading drawings

• Demonstrated knowledge on American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME) drafting and drawings standards

Desired Skills: Familiar with U.S. Navy submersibles or related systems, especially related to specific drafting requirements and practices for a SEAL Delivery Vehicle (SDV) or Shallow Water Combat Submersible (SWCS).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Drafting and Design Technology. An Associate's degree in Engineering Technology or related technical field with additional relevant experience will also be considered.

• Security Clearance: Required to access classified information up to the SECRET level 
• Citizenship: United States citizens prior to being admitted to a Government facility

• Travel Requirements: Required to travel to deployment locations in CONUS and OCONUS.
