Job Description

The Director, Technical Services provides strategic, operational, and people leadership for a nationwide organization of field-based technical service professionals. This role is accountable for customer equipment performance, service quality, technical capability, and commercial enablement across Sealed Air’s packaging and equipment systems.


Organizational Scope & Impact


• Leads multiple teams and/or managers responsible for customer-facing technical support, installations, start-ups, preventive maintenance enablement, troubleshooting, and training.
• Owns national service outcomes and serves as the senior escalation point for complex customer issues.
• Partners with Sales, Operations, Engineering, and HR to align technical service strategy with business priorities.
• Influences job architecture, capability models, and workforce strategy for technical sales support roles.


Key Responsibilities


Strategy & Business Leadership: Define and execute technical service strategy aligned to growth and customer retention.
Customer Experience & Service Excellence: Own equipment uptime, service responsiveness, and installation quality.
Operating Model & Continuous Improvement: Standardize service delivery, governance, and performance management.
Commercial Partnership: Serve as senior interface between Technical Services, Sales, and Engineering.


Execution Excellence: Ensure service is provided in the most effective and efficient manner possible with a clear view of performance metrics, including service quality, overtime, inventory levels, and time to resolution, and ongoing continuous improvement activities.


People Leadership & Talent Development: Develop managers, build succession, and scale technical capability.

Required Qualifications

• Senior leadership experience in technical services or field service organizations.
• Strong mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems knowledge.
• Proven experience leading leaders and distributed field teams.
• Ability to travel extensively.


Preferred Qualifications


• Experience with capital equipment, packaging systems, or industrial automation.
• Strong commercial acumen and Sales partnership experience.
• Experience building technical career paths and capability models.


Travel & Work Environment


Supports a field organization requiring frequent travel, overnight work, and occasional weekend or holiday installations. Preferred location for the role is in Sealed Air headquarters in Charlotte, NC.


Success Measures


Customer equipment uptime, service quality, reduction in escalations, talent readiness, effective workforce plan, and standardized service execution.
