Senior Drafter

Join our client in shaping the future of aviation! Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Drafter to enhance our team. Our Ideal candidate will be providing Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and drafting support for the FAA, primarily focused on generating, reviewing, and coordinating design and configuration management drawings, along with other drawings assigned by FAA Management. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in CAD drafting, with the ability to create accurate and detailed design and configuration management drawings. The candidate should be adept at managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and working under pressure. Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with others are essential. Proficiency with CAD software in construction projects, ideally in government agencies/DOD, as well as a solid understanding of drafting standards and practices are required.

This role supports the Federal Aviation Administration, which is responsible for ensuring the safety of 45,000 flights and 3 million passengers traversing over 28 million miles of U.S. controlled airspace every day. In addition to providing air traffic control and safety oversight for civilian aviation, the FAA also works in lockstep with the Department of Defense and other government agencies to ensure the security of our nation. A key component of that coordination involves the collaborative use of aviation tools and data.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and Configuration Management: Generate, review, and coordinate detailed design and configuration management drawings in compliance with FAA standards, ensuring that all drawings are accurate, complete, and meet project requirements.
  
  


• Project Management: Manage multiple drafting projects simultaneously, ensuring that each project adheres to strict deadlines and quality standards. Maintain oversight of timelines and resource allocation to keep projects on track and within scope.
  
  


• Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure alignment on design specifications, project requirements, and deliverables. Provide drafting expertise and feedback during project planning and execution phases.
  
  


• Quality Assurance and Accuracy: Review and verify the accuracy and completeness of all drawings, ensuring that all revisions, updates, and modifications are properly incorporated. Conduct regular checks for compliance with regulatory standards and drafting best practices.
  
  


• Adherence to Industry Standards: Maintain a thorough understanding of drafting standards and practices, particularly within the context of government agencies and the Department of Defense (DOD). Ensure all work is compliant with these standards while integrating the latest CAD technologies and techniques.
  
  


• Client Interaction: Collaborate with FAA management to understand their design needs, provide updates on project progress, and adjust designs as necessary based on feedback or changing project requirements.
  
  


• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all drawings, revisions, and design changes. Provide status reports to management as required and document project milestones, challenges, and resolutions.

• Main Office: Based in Vienna, VA (Thursdays in office)

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of 15 years of experience and be proficient in:
  




• Generating, reviewing, and coordinating design and configuration management drawings in the federal government
  


• Managing multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to strict deadlines and ensuring the accuracy and quality of all produced drawings.
  


• Working closely with team members to ensure all design specifications and project requirements are met efficiently and effectively
  


• Managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and working under pressure.
  


• Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with others
  


• CAD software in construction projects, ideally in government agencies/DOD, as well as a solid understanding of drafting standards and practices are required.Bachelor's Degree in applicable area (i.e. Drafting, Design, Engineering Technology, Architecture.)
  




• Experience supporting the FAA or other US Government clients
  


• Eligible to obtain a Secret clearance
