Job Description - Senior Electrical and Harness Specialist

Job Summary: 


 


Responsibilities: 




  • PCBA & Harness Fabrication and Debug 



    • Oversee harness build processes including prototyping, testing, and validation 



    • Assemble, inspect, and rework complex PCBAs including SMT and through-hole components per IPC-A-610/620 standards. 



    • Fabricate, troubleshoot, and rework wire harnesses, cable assemblies, and interconnect systems. 



    • Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs). 



    • Review harness drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams using industry-standard tools (i.e. Solidworks and Altium) 



    • Operate and maintain soldering stations, crimping tools, and cable testing equipment. 



    • Lead improvement efforts (ie. implementing new tooling, processes, etc.) 


    Prototype Development & Testing 



    • Support engineering development builds, including rapid prototyping and first-article assemblies. 



    • Perform functional and continuity testing of PCBAs, cables, and harnesses using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and specialized test fixtures. 



    • Review manufacturing work instructions and provide redlines 


    Design Feedback & DFM 



    • Provide hands-on design-for-manufacturing (DFM) feedback to engineering during early development phases with rapid prototyping and feedback on design and manufacturing readiness 



    • Participate in technical reviews and propose improvements in component layout, harness routing, and assembly processes. 



    • Collaborate with engineering and supply chain teams to ensure smooth and efficient execution of harness and electrical assembly manufacturing 


    Documentation & Quality Assurance 



    • Support quality as needed with inspection, dispositions, root cause analysis and testing 



    • Maintain accurate build records, rework documentation, and inspection logs in accordance with aerospace quality standards (AS9100, ISO9001). 



    • Ensure compliance with ESD safety protocols and workmanship standards (e.g., J-STD-001, NASA-STD-8739). 



    • Contribute to the development of work instructions and process documentation. 


    Mentorship & Leadership 



    • Act as a technical mentor to engineers, technicians and suppliers. 




 


Basic Qualifications:



  • Minimum 10+ years experience as a technician in defense, aerospace, or equivalent high‐reliability field 



  • Strong knowledge of IPC-610, J-STD-100, and IPC-620 standards 



  • Strong understanding of soldering techniques, harness manufacturing, tooling selection, wire prep, and shield termination 


Preferred Skills and Experience:



  • Minimum 15+ years experience as a technician in defense, aerospace, or equivalent high‐reliability field 



  • Certified in J-STD-100, IPC-620, and IPC-610 



  • Strong knowledge and experience in manufacturing, troubleshooting, rework and repair of PCBA’s 

  • TS Clearance

  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State. As required by the Equal Pay Transparency Act, Epirus provides a reasonable range of minimum compensation for roles that may be hired. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. 
For the state of California only, the range of starting pay for this role is:
$127,300$157,000 USD
