Role Overview
The organization is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Estimator to support the development of accurate, competitive estimates for diverse commercial construction projects.
This role will be responsible for leading estimating activities, preparing comprehensive bid packages, analyzing project requirements, and ensuring accuracy throughout the estimating process. The ideal candidate will have strong commercial electrical construction knowledge, experience interpreting complex drawings and specifications, and the ability to mentor junior estimating team members.
Key Responsibilities Estimating Leadership
· Lead and coordinate all estimating activities, including cost development, bid preparation, and final estimate package completion.
· Manage the estimating process from initial bid review through submission.
· Ensure estimates are accurate, competitive, and aligned with project requirements.
Scope & Technical Analysis
· Review bid requests, construction drawings, specifications, and project documents to determine scope accuracy and completeness.
· Identify potential risks, exclusions, and scope gaps.
· Evaluate electrical systems, materials, labor requirements, and installation methods.
Data Management & Cost Analysis
· Maintain and update estimating databases, cost libraries, and historical project information.
· Analyze historical costs versus current project data to improve estimating accuracy and forecasting.
· Track pricing trends and support continuous improvement of estimating processes.
Collaboration & Team Support
· Conduct job site visits and participate in scope review meetings.
· Present estimates, findings, and recommendations to project managers and leadership.
· Collaborate with project management, operations, vendors, and subcontractors.
· Train and mentor junior estimators while supporting department process improvements.
Required Qualifications
· Minimum 5 years of electrical estimating experience.
· Strong commercial electrical construction estimating background required.
· Knowledge of electrical construction practices, NEC (National Electrical Code), and fire alarm systems.
· Ability to interpret complex electrical drawings, blueprints, specifications, and technical documents.
· Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Teams.
Preferred Qualifications
· Previous field experience as a licensed electrician.
· Degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
· Experience estimating large-scale commercial projects.
· Experience with schools, hospitals, federal facilities, or other complex commercial construction projects.
· Experience mentoring or leading estimating teams.
Work Environment
· Onsite role based in Hampstead, MD.
· Collaboration with estimating, project management, operations, and field teams.
