Job Description - Senior Electrical Project Manager

Price Electric, a nationally ranked electrical contractor, is seeking an exceptional Senior Electrical Project Manager for its established Eastern Iowa branch in Robins who has successfully planned, managed, and overseen large industrial and commercial electrical construction projects, including design-build. The Senior Electrical Project Manager leads project execution from project award through closeout by managing quality, safety, resources, schedules, and finances and working closely with internal project teams and external partners to produce the best outcomes.


 


Using market and industry expertise, the Senior PM collaboratively establishes the branch’s electrical market business plan and serves a key role in achieving those plans. The manager builds and strengthens customer and vendor relations, works jointly with business development to align efforts, ensures accurate change order estimating, and proactively addresses risks and challenges.


 


The Senior PM builds success for people, projects, and partners through effective leadership, management, and branch electrical budget and project financial oversight. The Senior PM leads by example with self-managed projects and ensures branch electrical project manager reports:     


 



  • Review assigned project’s contractual requirements, specifications, and scope

  • Determine and maintain overall project schedule with established milestones and critical paths

  • Communicate well with fabrication, asset management, job site supervision, and project management teams to coordinate schedules and resources

  • Conduct short interval planning weekly including complete work breakdowns with actual to planned productivity monitoring

  • Attend meetings and visit job sites to interact with foremen, crew, general contractors, and customers to stay on top of changes and ensure expected job performance and progress occurs

  • Ensure every project has complete safety and quality inspections, observations, and plans for success on all task level items

  • Lead and manage field crews and promote merit shop philosophy and continuous learning and development, including providing objective feedback and assessing field leader job conduct and performance

  • Coordinate and manage external resources including vendor selection and subcontractors 

  • Monitor actual to planned project performance closely, actively coordinate adjustments to achieve expected results, and participate in financial forecasting 

  • Maintain good working relationships with customers and contractors by understanding their expectations, proactively addressing potential issues, resolving issues satisfactorily, and communicating successes

  • Ensure timely completion of project documents and necessary inspections, approvals, and certifications by appropriate agencies as well as accuracy and delivery of Payapps/billings to appropriate parties with customer follow up as needed 

  • Coordinate close out, analyze project performance, gather feedback, and develop and implement changes for continued improvement 

  • Utilize construction management, scheduling, purchasing, MS Office, and virtual meeting software effectively


 


Position Requirements:


 


 



  • Possess seven years of electrical project management experience in commercial and industrial construction or equivalent combination of a bachelor’s degree in construction management or electrical engineering and five years of project management experience

  • Proven track record in achieving safety, production, quality, budget, scope, and schedule expectations on large electrical projects

  • Ability to lead, manage and mentor project managers and field operation teams

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, listening, information probing, collaborating, and negotiating skills

  • Ability to read, understand and utilize plans and specifications for projects, financials, cost data, contracts, agreements, and other legal documents 

  • Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with project stakeholders

  • Proficient mathematical ability to perform various calculations

  • Analytical decision making and problem solving

  • Resourcefulness, time management and follow through skills necessary to meet commitments

  • Demonstrated strong independent judgment and business insight to balance company and customers' interests

  • Possess a valid driver’s license and acceptable insurability for regular business travel

  • CPMP certification is preferred
