Senior Engineer Building & Infrastructure Projects

GovFirst is seeking to hire multiple Senior Engineer – Building & Infrastructure Projects to support the development and evaluation of vertical building projects in various locations across Virginia, including Bristol, Culpeper, Fredericksburg, Hampton Roads, Lynchburg, Northern Virginia, Richmond, Salem, Staunton, and other regions within the Transportation Operations Division. These engineers will be responsible for project scoping, evaluation, and documentation, contributing to the successful planning and execution of construction efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop evaluations and conduct reviews for a variety of vertical building projects, ensuring alignment with project goals and standards.
  

• Attend project scoping meetings, preconstruction conferences, and field visits to gather information and provide recommendations.
  

• Review schedules, estimates, and documentation, performing necessary checks throughout the project lifecycle.
  

• Coordinate the flow of information between project stakeholders both verbally and in writing to ensure timely and effective project development.
  

• Ensure that electronic files are properly archived at various stages of plan development.
  

• Utilize engineering software such as Revit, MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, and other applications approved by VDOT to create and review project plans.
  

• Assist in resolving project-related issues by collaborating with internal teams and external partners.
  

• Provide technical support and ensure adherence to standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field is preferred.
  

• 2–3 years of experience using Revit, MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, and other engineering software programs approved for use by VDOT.
  

• Strong understanding of project evaluation, scheduling, and documentation processes.
  

• Ability to coordinate information flow, communicate effectively, and maintain proper records throughout project development.
  

• Knowledge of engineering best practices, construction standards, and vertical building systems.
  

• Proficiency in file management and archiving electronic project files.
  

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
