The Senior Engineer - Geotechnical is a manager position that is a critical technical position within the organization. The ideal candidate will be able to support the company’s vision, manage duties & staff in accordance with company policy, be a proactive team member, uphold client satisfaction, and able to multi-task successfully. As a Senior Engineer, this candidate will support the Vice President, Principal Geotechnical Engineer and have experience supporting geotechnical investigations including field and office duties. This position requires capabilities of being able to balance project needs and client expectations. The Senior Engineer reports to the Vice President, Principal Geotechnical Engineer and is expected to have strong management abilities.
The Senior Engineer - Geotechnical achieves objectives by implementing efforts focused on team building, providing effective & efficient communication, client relationships, mentoring staff, completing action plans, maintaining quality, resolving problems, and embracing change.
Senior Engineer Responsibilities and Duties
Manage geotechnical investigation projects
Manage staff engineers and staff geologists
Perform technical research, analysis and research
Work in the field when needed to support projects
Support actions needed to meet customer expectations
Excellent time management and interpersonal skills
Help promote a company culture that encourages top performance and high morale
Support collaborative communication within the department and with clients
Communicate customer challenges with the team and support ways of improving the customer experience, including resolving challenges
Assist senior staff with technical support and having an open dialog regarding project status or problems onsite
Project management including: Attending pre-construction meetings, Forecasting project difficulties and Strong communications with contractors/clients
Additional duties include: reviewing field reports & documentation, ensuring deadlines are met, assign dispatch inspections to qualified inspectors, work toward solving field challenges, and reviewing and approving timesheets.
Accomplishes success in the position by embracing company goals, working with other departments, inspiring assigned staff & driving for positive relationships with peers, coworkers, clients, field personnel, and senior management.
Geotechnical Staff Engineer Skills and Qualifications:
5 plus years of geotechnical engineering experience
Must have a PE license, GE license (Preferred)
At least 3 years experience managing technical staff
This individual needs to demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment and provide examples where they manage a variety of challenges through organizational skills and problem-solving capabilities and the ability of multi-tasking.
Experience performing geotechnical engineering including field engineering, developing boring logs, soils classification, settlement analysis, slope stability, foundation recommendations.
Comfortable communicating with clients, contractors, design professionals, field staff and office staff.
This position requires reviewing field reports and mentoring staff.
Proficiency with Microsoft Products, geotechnical programs, Email, and Adobe programs.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $105,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
