What we are looking for:

Maldonado-Burkett is seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented Senior Engineer Technician to join our Austin, Texas office. We are seeking an individual with 10+ years of experience to help deliver traffic engineering projects. Under the direct supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer, the Senior Engineer Technician is responsible for assisting with ongoing design, construction and maintenance contracts focusing on Highway Illumination, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Traffic Signal or other related traffic and transportation engineering.

 How you’ll make an impact at M-B as a Senior Engineer Technician:

• The work performed may include (but not be limited to) the following:
• Assist in developing plans, specifications and estimates for transportation infrastructure projects, technical documentation, and progress reporting;
• Support design and delivery of transit, highway and arterial transportation design or consulting duties;
• Support marketing and business development;
• Review field conditions relevant to constructability of design elements.
• Support traffic design, ITS design and lighting analysis and design;
• Determine traffic conditions and levels of service to make recommendations for improvements;
• Engineer the design of infrastructure traffic improvements that would increase vehicle flow;
• Investigate potential solutions - utilizing prior experience, literature review and product research;
• Utilizing prior experience, literature review and product research, investigates alternate component technologies or supplies for reduced cost or improved quality and reliability and implements changes;
• Assignments may require occasional travel and/or overnight stays.

Requirements

What it takes to be successful as a Senior Engineer Technician:

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Civil or Mechanical) from an EAC/ABET accredited college;
• Engineer in Training (EIT) in the state of Texas (active);
• 10 + years of related work experience
• Experience and competence with design software such as Geopak and/or OpenRoads;
• Strong written and verbal communication skills including the proficient use of MS Office tools and work well in a team environment;
• Experienced with project scope, specifications, and design criteria upon assignment to a project task team;
• Familiarity in Highway Illumination design;
• Experience in ITS subsystems and devices;
• Knowledge of current desktop technologies and communications software including Windows, serial communications, and TCP/IP concept;
• Working knowledge of CAD – MicroStation;
• Ability to handle multiple, demanding, and complex projects in a timely manner with accurate results;
• Maintain effective work relationships.

 Conditions of Employment:

• Applicant will be subject to a Motor Vehicle Record Check. Satisfactory driving records are required for driving company or personal vehicles and motor driven equipment to conduct company business.
