Job Description - Senior Environmental Engineer

GEI is looking for a senior environmental engineer with project management experience to join our Duluth, Minnesota office. This is an opportunity to build and grow a practice in a nationwide, highly supportive organization that takes a long-term view of the marketplace.
The successful candidate will manage and support soil and groundwater investigation and remediation projects, perform remedial investigation, develop remedial designs, assess remedial alternatives, perform remedy implementation and monitoring, design and implement pilot tests, and prepare and review reports. Responsibilities may also include air quality permitting, air quality compliance, and environmental reporting.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
The ideal candidate for this position will:
Lead and work on a variety of environmental projects throughout the Midwest.
Manage projects and tasks that support the investigation and remediation of environmental conditions with a strong focus on subsurface investigations.
Coordinate and implement environmental field work including the use of innovative characterization methods.
Design and oversee the construction of remediation systems and evaluate and optimize existing remediation systems.
Prepare project correspondence, data reports, and work plans for internal and client review.
Prepare engineering drawings, specifications and scopes of work for construction.
Mentor and train staff.
Support the development of new and existing clients and markets while cross-selling GEI’s other core business areas (e.g., permitting, water resources, ecological services, and engineering).
Maintain high visibility in the marketplace through regular client contact.
Participate in client-based professional organizations and present at industry events.
Minimum Qualifications
B.S. in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering; Masters preferred. Knowledge and experience in hydrogeology, contaminant fate and transport, and in-situ remediation is a plus.
Experience with environmental permitting and compliance, focusing on federal and state (Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Michigan) environmental regulations is preferred.
PE required.
7+ years relevant experience.
Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, judgment, and problem-solving capabilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication and organization skills.
Seller-doer with strong regional connections and an entrepreneurial spirit.
