Job Summary:

The Senior Estimator is an exempt position responsible for client engagement, completing thorough takeoffs, preparing detailed client proposals, contributing to department processes and the development of junior estimators.

Essential Tasks:

• Evaluate, research, and analyze bid documents, site condition, drawings, and specifications.


• Perform complex analysis of collected data and metrics.


• Obtain subcontractor and material quotes; seek potential cost savings.


• Develop pricing for proposed work.


• Develop and maintain relationships with company vendors, contractors and clients.


• Review prepared estimates with management.


• Turnover jobs to Project Managers and effectively communicate scope of work, budgets, methodology, schedules, etc. prior to the start of construction.


• Manage other estimators.

Qualifications

• Ability to manage multiple bids and projects at the same time.


• In-depth knowledge of project management.


• Hands-on experience with complex data research activities.


• Strong computer skills: Experience with CAD (computer aided design) and bidding software.


• Basic Geometry and math skills.


• Excellent communication skills.


• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.


• Physically able to work seated in front of a computer for long hours at a time.

Education and Experience

Any combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge and abilities listed qualifies.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction science or related field is preferred.


• The ideal candidate will have 10 or more years of construction estimating experience; Preference given to underground heavy civil utility construction experience.

Work Hours: The normal work hours for this position are Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm at the CK Contractors and Development, LLC office.
