Position Title:Senior Estimator Department Name: Estimating and Preconstruction Reports to: Vice President, General Manager Status: Exempt, Full Time Location: Nevada Office
Position Purpose The Sr. Estimator provides the full range of estimating services to a client regarding a project’s cost, schedule, and logistic requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ability to prepare accurate estimates including macro and detailed estimates
Ability to prepare conceptual estimates through establishing the GMAX / Lump Sum final estimates
Ability to clearly communicate the cost of elements and a project to a client including cost increases
Ability to clearly communicate a projects duration to a client including the required sequencing and staging
Top quality subcontractor scope writing to clearly state what is required without redundancy
Perform bid solicitation, obtain the required number of bids and bid posting
Detailed and accurate quantity survey
In depth knowledge of unit pricing
Complete work on time
Ability to turn estimates into profitable construction contracts to build the project
Attend RFP presentations and express concepts in presentations clearly
Attend and lead Preconstruction OAC meetings
Develop cost savings lists
Knowledge of Subcontractor pool ability to operate Subcontractor database software
Develop relationships with owners and architects
Ability to prepare summary project schedules
Preparation of staffing and general conditions estimates
Other Job Functions:
Interaction with project teams regarding start up and award of subcontracts
Perform other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position
Supervisory Requirements:
Supervise interns, co-ops, project engineers, etc that are assigned to projects
Oversee take-offs completed by others but are to supervise and cross check to ensure accuracy
Interactions:
Vice President of Preconstruction and Estimating, Chief Estimator, Concrete Preconstruction Manager
Operations Vice Presidents, Project Executives, Project Managers and Superintendents
Architects, MEP engineers and Clients/Owner’s representatives
Subcontractors and vendors
Requirements
Education/Training:
4-year bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent combination of experience and/or training within a technical field (Construction industry experience preferred)
Experience Required:
A minimum of 10 to 15 years of general contracting estimating experience
Experience include estimating projects ranging in size from $10 million to $500 million
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):
Detailed understanding of all project types associated with Morley Builders core competencies and resume, including:
Multi-family projects
Commercial and renovation projects
Hotels
Public works
CM at risk
Must possess technical knowledge of construction
Familiar with Microsoft office, Bluebeam, Enterprise BIM and Acrobat software
Self-motivated / Self-starter
Detail oriented but also able to see the big picture
Works well in a team environment and encourages collaboration
Physical Demands:
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
Intermittent walking to gain access to work areas
Finger dexterity sufficient to use a computer and to complete paperwork activities
Vision sufficient to use a computer, to read written materials and to complete paperwork activities
Hearing sufficient to communicate with individuals by telephone and in person
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
Work Environment:
Office setting with quiet to moderate noise levels in temperature-controlled environment
Works in other areas at the facility as needed
