Job Title: Senior Estimator – Civil (Transit Projects)

Location: New York City, NY (On-site, 5 days per week)
Salary Range: $165,000 – $200,000 annually

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to lead cost estimating efforts for large-scale civil infrastructure projects, with a strong emphasis on transit-related work. This individual will play a critical role in preparing accurate, competitive bids and supporting business development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed cost estimates for civil construction projects across transit and infrastructure sectors


• Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive bid packages


• Lead quantity take-offs, pricing, and cost breakdown structures for complex projects


• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and business development teams to support pursuit strategies


• Participate in bid reviews, risk assessments, and value engineering efforts


• Maintain and update cost databases, benchmarking tools, and historical records


• Interface with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and evaluate proposals


• Support proposal development for design-build and alternative delivery (BD) projects


• Ensure all estimates align with project scope, schedule, and client requirements

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in civil construction estimating


• Proven experience estimating large-scale infrastructure or heavy civil projects


• Transit project experience strongly preferred (e.g., rail, subway, commuter systems)


• Experience supporting business development (BD) pursuits, including alternative delivery projects such as design-build, CMAR, or P3


• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards


• Proficiency in estimating software and tools (e.g., HeavyBid, HCSS, or similar)


• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documents


• Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills


• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred
