Houston, TX | Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting | Onsite
We’re partnering with a growing Houston-based energy organization to identify a Senior Financial Reporting Accountant who will play an important role within its financial reporting and technical accounting function.
This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who has built a strong foundation in public accounting and/or the energy industry and wants broader, hands-on exposure to SEC reporting, technical accounting, upstream oil & gas accounting, financial statement preparation, and complex transactions.
Rather than being limited to one narrow area of accounting, this individual will have visibility across the full financial reporting cycle and work closely with experienced accounting leadership in a fast-paced, operationally driven environment.
The Senior Financial Reporting Accountant will support the preparation of the company’s internal and external financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements while playing an active role in monthly, quarterly, and annual close and reporting activities.
This role is particularly well suited for someone who enjoys the technical side of accounting but also wants to understand the underlying business. You’ll gain exposure to areas including revenue recognition, oil & gas accounting, reserves, PPE, depletion, impairments, derivatives, leases, cash flow analysis, audits, and SOX.
This role offers much more than traditional Senior Accountant responsibilities.
You’ll have the opportunity to develop deeper expertise across financial reporting, SEC filings, technical accounting, upstream oil & gas accounting, audit, SOX, and complex transactions while working closely with accounting leadership.
For someone coming from public accounting, this can be an attractive opportunity to move into industry without losing the technical complexity and exposure that helped build your career. For someone already within upstream oil & gas, it offers the chance to broaden your financial reporting and technical accounting experience while gaining greater visibility across the organization.
The environment is fast-moving, hands-on, and best suited for someone who wants to learn, take ownership, and continue progressing within their accounting career.
If you have a strong accounting foundation, upstream oil & gas exposure, and an interest in developing deeper expertise across SEC reporting and technical accounting, we’d like to speak with you.
