Leads and participates in the activities of workers engaged in ordering, issuing, receiving, storing, inventorying,issuing, and delivering automotive related materials (i.e., tools, equipment, parts, uniforms, etc., to ensure efficientand effective operation of an automotive/fleet storeroom, warehouse and/or yard.

Overview

The Senior Fleet Parts Specialist leads, assists, and participates in the activities of workers engaged in ordering, issuing, receiving, storing, inventorying, issuing, and delivering automotive related materials to ensure efficient
and effective operation of a fleet storeroom, warehouse, or yard.

Essential Functions

1 Plans, schedules, and coordinates the activities of lower fleet part specialists and participates in ordering, receiving, shipping, unpacking, inspecting, storing, issuing and delivery of goods, supplies, equipment and materials used in an automotive storeroom, warehouse or yard in accordance with city and departmental guidelines; provides mechanical knowledge to assist and deliver excellent customer service and parts management.

2 Monitors and maintains adequate inventory, accurate records, and reports for assigned location to ensure proper internal controls and accountability of materials; maintains balances and assists in the prevention of errors and discrepancies in inventory management.

3 Inventories and maintains material and supplies using a computerized inventory tracking system to ensure proper stock levels and quantities are maintained; oversees emergency repair orders and processes all orders for supplies and materials.

4 Processes requisitions and price agreement orders to maintain adequate levels of inventory for the efficient operation of a storeroom, warehouse, or yard.

5 Reviews purchase orders, price agreements, direct pay and office services orders to ensure documents are correct and accurate.

6 Inspects operations and demonstrates proper accounting, receiving, storing, and issuing safety methods to lower level storekeepers according to departmental procedures.

7 Identifies and disposes of obsolete inventory according to municipal controls for disposal.

8 Resolves complaints related to materials and problems with departmental employees, customers and vendors in accordance with departmental guidelines.

9 Recommends changes in policies and procedures for storeroom and warehouse activities.

10 Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

1 Knowledge of storekeeping and inventory systems, methods, and procedures or the use of computerized tracking system.

2 Knowledge of principles of purchasing, quality controls, and quantity of materials needed in the inventory systems, methods and procedures and the use of computerized tracking system.

3 Knowledge of supply room methods and practices.

4 Ability to keep routine supply room records.

5 Ability to do heavy lifting and carrying.

6 Ability to read, write, and speak English; do simple math.

7 Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

8 Ability to use technically oriented parts catalogs and reference manuals.

9 Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.

10 Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: 

  • High school diploma or GED.

EXPERIENCE:  

  • Three (3) years of automotive or heavy-duty parts inventory control experience. Experience must have included researching parts catalogues, creating delivery orders, and parts identification.

AND:

  • Six (6) months of lead work/ supervisory responsibilities.

LICENSE and CERTIFICATION:

  • Valid driver's license with good driving record.

  • Must obtain Forklift Certification within six (6) months of probationary period.



Salary Range

 

$22.32 - $24.56
