Description

UNHS is looking for a Full-time skilled individuals to become members of our Finance team. We know there is someone out there that will make an excellent addition to our team. We have 4 primary care health centers and deliver integrated services including Medical, Behavioral Health, Pharmacy, Dental, Optometry, specialty referrals, chronic disease management, health education, and much, much more.
  • Location: All Sites

Critical Tasks:

  1. Collaborate with the Controller, CFO, Grants Manager, and Department Leaders to support accounting and reporting needs.
  2. Monthly grant expenditure review for grant revenue accruals
  3. Review monthly/quarterly reimbursement invoices and drawdowns prepared by Staff Grant Accountant and grant budget managers to ensure the amounts are accurate as well as coding in the accounting system is allocated to the correct fund sources, budget year, and departments
  4. Monthly review grant reimbursement invoice receivables and collections to code and 
  5. post into the accounting system and to ensure reimbursement funding has been received
  6. Work with grant accountant to set-up grant fund sources in the accounting system
  7. Review staff payroll allocations/set-up to ensure correct staff are assigned to the correct grant fund sources and departments
  8. Review other reporting required by grant agencies including quarterly and annual FFRs
  9. Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual grant revenue, expenditure, receivables, and deferred rollforward as well as reconciliations of grant GL accounts
  10. Prepare / assist with preparing Grant Budgets and monthly review of expenditures comparison to budgets
  11. Monthly Grant expenses reports (including reviews to ensure cost are allowable and accurately coded to correct fund source)
  12. Assist with the annual Financial and Single Audit for required grant reporting items and requests
  13. Prepare the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA) for audit purposes
  14. Manage and reconcile HIS funding agreements
  15. Assist with HRSA and UDS reporting as well as HRSA site visits/audits
  16. Internal reviews/audit of patient Sliding fee program to ensure compliance with program guidelines, tables, fees, and other requirements
  17. Internal reviews/audit of PRC program to ensure compliance with program guidelines, patient required documentations, etc.
  18. Work with Fundraising Coordinator to code and post donations received into the accounting system
  19. Back-up grant accountants with reporting, budgeting, and invoicing
  20. Other accounting and finance duties as needed and as assigned

  7. Demonstrated understanding of Navajo culture or willingness to learn and respect traditions.

Requirements

Experience, Training, and Qualifications needed to perform the job: 

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, or business administration;
  2. Must have minimum of three (3) years accounting experience with at least 1 year as a senior accountant or;
  3. Must have minimum of five (5) years working with federal and state grants, preferably in a governmental, tribal, or non-profit organization, with at least 2 years of supervisory experience;

Experience:

  1. Strong knowledge and understanding of GAAP;
  2. Experience with accounting software systems (e.g., MIP, Sage, or similar);
  3. Experience with Federal Uniform Guidance requirements and federal / state grants;
  4. Prior experience working in healthcare is preferred, but not required

Knowledge:

  1. Ability to explain financial information clearly and tactfully to non-financial personnel.
  2. Possess Emotional intelligence and professionalism in handling sensitive or complex issues.
  3. Must Address financial discrepancies with clarity, tact, and a solution-oriented mindset. 
  4. Foster a positive, respectful culture of collaboration and shared responsibility. 
  5. Approach challenges with a calm demeanor and an appreciation for diverse perspectives.

Additional Skill and Abilities:

  1. Proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint software applications.
  2. Strong leadership skills
  3. Strong attention to detail
  4. Effective time management skills, ability to meet deadlines and organizational ability.
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  6. Knowledge of Navajo cultural and tradition, or willing to learn

License/Certification: None

In accordance with Navajo Nation and federal law, UNHS has implemented an Affirmative Actin Plan pursuant to the Navajo Preference in Employment Act. The NPEA has the following preferences: 

1) Enrolled Navajo (must have a CIB). 

2) Applicant married to an enrolled Navajo and who has lived on the NN for more than a year. 

3) Everyone else (all other tribes and non-Indians). 

As a Tribal Organization the Utah Navajo Health System, Inc. (UNHS) treats patients with high risk and underlying chronic medical conditions. Therefore, UNHS requires its employees to show proof of immunization prior to their employment with UNHS or during their employment. Below is a list of immunizations/vaccinations required to be employed or to continue employment with UNHS.
The immunizations/vaccinations include but not limited to following:

  • MMR (Measles Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella): Documentation of two MMR vaccines (OR) Documentation of MMR titers.
  • Complete Hepatitis B vaccine series (3 doses), documented proof of titers indicating immunity, or a declination that may be signed upon arrival.
  • Proof of up-to-date PPD skin testing, if previously negative (OR) Proof of positive PPD skin test with the most recent chest x-ray and treatment history.
  • Tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap).
  • Varicella titers, history of varicella or varicella immunization series.
  • Influenza vaccine for the current year.
  • Any other vaccinations as requested.
