Senior Highway Engineer/Project Manager

At Dawood Engineering, Inc., we provide multi-disciplined consulting services for a wide range of industries encompassing Transportation, Utilities, Energy & Land Planning/Site Development. Our engineers and professionals provide Highway Design and Traffic Engineering, Bridge and Structural Engineering, Civil Design, Surveying and Mapping, Pipeline and Associated Facility Design, Geotechnical/Geophysical, Environmental Studies and Water/Wastewater design.

We are currently seeking a Senior Highway Engineer/Project Manager to join our team in either our Enola, King of Prussia, or Canonsburg, PA office locations. In this role, you will execute assignments requiring a detailed knowledge of engineering fundamentals and the application of these fundamentals to the production of engineering work as it relates to highway design.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Execute and oversee a variety of engineering tasks including preparation of plans and reports, investigatory studies, engineering design calculations, and layout of roadway and drainage facilities.
• Serve as Task Manager or Project Manager.
• Work tasks may involve the development, management and/or oversight collection of data, alternative analysis evaluation for engineering reports, horizontal and vertical alignments, cross section and superelevation design, roadside barrier design, ADA curb ramp design, roadway modeling, roadway plans, erosion and sediment control plans, stormwater management plans, right-of-way plans, utility relocation plans, permit application drawings, and traffic control plans.
• Provide oversight to design staff to complete tasks on projects.
• Perform Quality Control and Quality Assurance reviews on projects.
• Design complete projects of varying complexity.
• Ensure that designs are produced in accordance with client standards, manuals and other guidelines including state and federal.
• Produce clean documents and calculations with minimal errors and revisions.
• Clarifies directions on project design issues and proceeds on projects with a clear understanding of time schedule and budget.
• Complete tasks on or before scheduled amount of time and within budget.
• Adhere to scope of work and seeks approval for work outside of scope.
• Maintain frequent communication with project team members to verify design requirements and identify problems that arise.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• Candidates shall possess a BS degree in civil engineering or equivalent with at least 10 to 20 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Professional Engineers License required (PA preferred or can get reciprocity).
• Knowledge of PennDOT and PA Turnpike standards and design procedures.
• Task Management experience required and Project Management experience desired.
• Able to multi-task on different assignments.
• Excellent MicroStation design skills.
• Detailed knowledge of InRoads/OpenRoads required including oversight and mentoring of this software’s use.
• Understanding of all phases of highway and transportation project development.
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills, including proposal and report writing.
• Team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to provide oversight as well as performing the design.
• Positive, energetic, and cooperative with customers and internal staff.
