About Elk Ave Hospitality
Elk Ave Hospitality is a growing family of restaurants and hospitality businesses in Crested Butte and the Gunnison Valley. Our concepts range from elevated dining to high-volume casual hospitality, historic mountain-town service, destination dining, events, bakery, market, and provisions.
We believe hospitality can be both a craft and a career. Housing, community connection, and employee experience are important parts of helping people establish meaningful careers and lives in the Gunnison Valley.
Position Summary
As Senior Housing & Employee Experience Manager, I report directly to the Director of Business Development, HR & Finance and own Elk Ave Hospitality’s housing, housekeeping, and employee-experience programs.
I strategically manage our internal housing inventory, employee placements and transitions, furniture and property condition, housing administration, and future housing needs.
I maintain top-tier, recruitment-first housing standards and oversee housekeeping across employee housing, designated venue spaces, and company community areas. I manage an internal housekeeping team or coordinate outside housekeeping providers as needed to consistently maintain those standards.
I expand our housing resources by developing relationships with the Gunnison Valley Housing Authority, long-term property-management groups, landlords, and other housing providers.
I also create opportunities for employees to connect with one another, Elk Ave Hospitality, and the Gunnison Valley through company activities, outings, communication, community resources, and local partnerships.
I play a critical role in employee relations without functioning as Human Resources, serving as an approachable employee resource while escalating formal HR matters to the Director of Business Development, HR & Finance.
My goal is to help employees successfully arrive, live, connect, transition, and build a sustainable life in the Gunnison Valley.

- I compare future staffing plans against projected housing capacity and identify shortages early.
- I maintain clear records of housing assignments, transfers, and expected transitions.
- I identify opportunities to improve the use or capacity of existing housing.
- I help employees transition toward longer-term housing when appropriate so limited company inventory remains available where it creates the greatest value.
Move-In, Move-Out, and Housing Administration
- I manage move-ins, move-outs, keys, access, inspections, agreements, rates, and resident records.
- I maintain accurate information in RentRedi or the current approved housing-management system.
- I communicate expectations regarding cleanliness, shared spaces, property care, noise, guests, and respectful community living.
- I ensure departing employees complete required housing steps and incoming residents receive housing that is ready for occupancy.
- I maintain appropriate confidentiality for housing and employee information.
- I address housing concerns consistently and route maintenance, employee-relations, or employment matters to the appropriate owner.
Housing Quality, Furniture, and Damage Management
- I maintain top-tier, recruitment-first standards for housing cleanliness, functionality, furnishings, safety, and presentation.

- I identify missing property, excessive wear, cleanliness issues, and resident-caused damage.
- I distinguish normal wear and tear from resident-caused damage.
- I document applicable charges in accordance with company policy and housing agreements.
- I coordinate damage charges and documentation with the Director of Business Development, HR & Finance and appropriate Shared Services resources.
- I plan furniture, household-item, and property-readiness needs ahead of turnovers and seasonal employee arrivals.
Housekeeping Management
- I own the housekeeping program across employee housing, designated venue spaces, and company community areas.
- I establish cleaning standards, schedules, checklists, inspection requirements, and service expectations.
- I directly manage housekeeping employees when services are performed internally.
- When outside support is needed, I source, coordinate, schedule, and manage housekeeping crews or vendors.
- I ensure housekeeping coverage supports housing turnovers, seasonal arrivals, company events, community spaces, and ongoing operational needs.
- I inspect completed work and address recurring quality or performance issues.
- I coordinate deep cleaning and seasonal reset projects as needed.
- I maintain appropriate housekeeping supplies, equipment, and cleaning resources.
- I coordinate with the Training & Development Manager to ensure housekeeping employees are properly trained to company standards.
Facilities and Property Readiness
- I coordinate closely with the Facilities Department on repairs, preventative maintenance, safety concerns, and property improvements.
- I distinguish between housekeeping needs and Facilities needs and route work appropriately.
- I maintain visibility into housing-related Facilities work through completion.
- I identify recurring property issues and larger improvement opportunities.
- I ensure employee housing is clean, functional, furnished, and ready before an incoming employee arrives.
- I work with venue leadership to maintain clear boundaries between structured housekeeping support and daily operational cleanliness.
External Housing Partnerships and Long-Term Pathways
- I maintain an active relationship with the Gunnison Valley Housing Authority and other community housing resources.
- I build relationships with landlords, property-management groups, and long-term housing providers throughout the valley.
- I identify workforce, affordable, and long-term housing opportunities outside company-controlled inventory.

- I maintain current information regarding availability, eligibility, application processes, and timelines.
- I connect employees with appropriate resources and help them understand how to pursue available opportunities.
- I develop programs that help employees transition from company-supported housing toward greater long-term stability.

- I help new and existing employees become familiar with the Gunnison Valley and the resources available to them.
- I provide information about transportation, recreation, local services, seasonal activities, and community events.
- I refer employees to skiing, biking, hiking, fishing, arts, music, recreation, and other local experiences.
- I develop simple guides and recommendations that help employees explore the valley independently.
- I build relationships with local businesses, recreation providers, and community organizations.
- I seek employee group activities, partnerships, and other opportunities that improve the employee experience.
Employee Communication and Culture
- I maintain regular communication with our employee tenant population.
- I communicate housing information, company activities, community resources, and relevant local opportunities.
- I help employees understand where to go when they need information or support.
- I champion Elk Ave Hospitality’s culture through housing interactions, communication, activities, and community-building.
- I maintain awareness of employee sentiment and communicate meaningful recurring themes to leadership.
- I help employees connect with the broader organization rather than only the venue where they work.
Employee Relations and Support
- I maintain a visible and approachable relationship with employees across Elk Ave Hospitality.
- I listen to employee questions, concerns, feedback, and ideas and help connect employees with the appropriate resource or leader.
- I help identify recurring barriers to employee engagement, retention, or a positive employee experience.
- I support employees through housing, seasonal, and other significant transitions.
- I maintain discretion when employees share sensitive concerns.
- I help strengthen communication between employees, venue leadership, and Shared Services.
The Senior Housing & Employee Experience Manager plays an important role in employee relations but does not function as Human Resources.
I recognize when a matter requires formal HR involvement and promptly involve the Director of Business Development, HR & Finance. I do not independently conduct formal HR investigations, make disciplinary or employment-status decisions, administer protected leave, make accommodation decisions, or independently resolve formal employment complaints.
I serve as an accessible employee resource without replacing formal HR authority or the responsibility of managers to lead and manage their teams.
