Job Description - Senior Human Resources Business Partner

The Senior HR Business Partner serves as a strategic advisor to business leaders and project teams, driving people strategies that support operational excellence, organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, employee engagement, leadership development, and risk mitigation. This role partners closely with regional leadership to influence business decisions, navigate complex employee relations matters, lead organizational change initiatives, and strengthen leadership capabilities across multi-site construction environments.

This position requires travel to projects in Southern California, with occasional visits to the San Francisco Bay Area for team meetings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•    Provides strategic coaching to leaders related to team effectiveness, conflict resolution, accountability, leadership capability, communication, and performance optimization.
•    Advises and develops leaders through coaching and training on performance management, employee relations, workplace environment, regulatory leave programs, organizational change, and leadership excellence.
•    Leads the development and execution of employee-focused programs, policies, and procedures aligned with our strategy to be an employer of choice in the industry.
•    Transforms workforce data and trends into actionable insights, identifying organizational risks and driving proactive people strategies and business recommendations.
•    Oversees the regional onboarding process, including facilitating new hire orientation and guiding managers in effectively integrating new employees into the Webcor culture.
•    Drives the performance management process for assigned business units, partnering with leaders to support effective evaluation and development.
•    Leads complex employee relations investigations involving performance concerns, workplace complaints, policy violations, and sensitive employment matters, while demonstrating empathy, supporting employees, and ensuring legal compliance, consistency, and appropriate risk mitigation.
•    Partners with business unit leaders and the Learning & Development Manager to identify training needs, support the evaluation of program effectiveness, and ensure employees gain meaningful, actionable skills.
•    Conducts exit interviews and provides actionable insights and recommendations to business unit and HR leadership.
•    Examines and suggests modifications to HR processes to ensure continuous improvement.
•    Participates in special projects and programs when required.

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
•    HR Certification (HRCI/SHRM) advanced designation preferred
•    Advanced knowledge of California employment practices, leave management, wage and hour compliance, workplace investigations, and risk mitigation strategies. Experience with multi-state employment practice preferred. 
•    Ability to travel to multiple project worksites in the greater Southern California area on a regular basis. “Home base” will be at our home office in downtown Los Angeles, with occasional visits to the San Francisco Bay Area. An auto allowance is provided.
•    Demonstrated experience supporting organizational change management initiatives and driving adoption in fast-paced corporate environments.
•    Proven ability to manage complex, sensitive employee relations matters and conduct comprehensive workplace investigations with sound judgment and discretion.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
•    A bachelor’s degree in business, Human Resources or another related field preferred.
•    Minimum 7 years’ of progressive  Human Resources experience including at least three years in an HR Business Partner or Senior HR Generalist role OR;
•    Appropriate combination of education and experience.
•    Prior experience supporting construction, engineering, field operations, or other project-based industries strongly preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to sit for long periods of time at a desk, generally up to 7 hours per day and regularly working on-site at the construction work site.  The repetitive motion using hands with constant keyboarding and physical use of vision to read computer monitors including close vision for coding and data analysis.  Regularly required to use hands to operate standard office equipment (personal computer, photocopy machine, etc.).  Occasionally required to stoop, kneel and lift up to 15 pounds.  The noise level in the office work environment is usually moderate to loud.   The employee regularly works at the construction work site to validate technology implementation, deliver on-site training and demonstrations where the employee will be required to climb permanent and temporary stairs and is exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.  The noise on the construction work site is usually moderate to very loud.

Range of base pay is $150,000-$175,000. Actual pay is based on individual skill level and experience.
