Starts Align is partnered with a well-established HVAC mechanical contractor on Long Island that is seeking an experienced Senior HVAC Estimator to join its team in Woodbury, NY.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced commercial HVAC estimator who can independently manage estimates from initial bid review through final submission. The ideal candidate will have strong technical estimating knowledge, understand the New York construction market, and be comfortable working on both design-build and plan/spec commercial HVAC projects.
The Senior Estimator will work closely with estimating leadership, project management, operations, subcontractors, and vendors to develop accurate and competitive bids.
Prepare detailed estimates for commercial HVAC and mechanical projects
Manage estimates from initial opportunity and document review through final bid submission
Perform detailed takeoffs and develop labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and vendor pricing
Review plans, specifications, drawings, addenda, and other bid documents to identify complete project scope
Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and vendor proposals
Identify scope gaps, risks, exclusions, qualifications, and value-engineering opportunities
Prepare estimates for both design-build and plan/spec projects
Participate in bid reviews and assist with overall pricing and pursuit strategy
Maintain accurate estimating documentation and historical cost information
Track bids and assist with proposal follow-up
Work closely with operations and project management to ensure a smooth turnover following project award
Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and industry partners
Support improvements to estimating processes, templates, systems, and best practices
Strong commercial HVAC estimating experience required
Mechanical contracting experience strongly preferred
Experience independently preparing and managing estimates
Knowledge of HVAC systems, equipment, materials, labor, and installation methods
Experience with design-build and plan/spec estimating
Familiarity with the NYC and Long Island construction markets
Experience working within union construction environments preferred
Strong understanding of subcontractor and vendor pricing
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with estimating, project management, and operations teams
The successful candidate will be a hands-on, experienced estimator who takes ownership of their work and understands both the technical and commercial sides of HVAC construction.

Base Salary: Up to $140,000, based on experience
