Senior Indirect Underwriter

Senior Indirect Underwriter| Location: 11149 Research Blvd, Austin, Tx 78759|Department: Loan Department| Employment Type: Full-Time Schedule: Monday–Friday 9:30am-6:30pm and rotating Saturday's 10:00am-6:00pm

Austin Telco is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Indirect Underwriter to support our indirect lending operations. This role is responsible for evaluating complex loan applications, assessing credit risk, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations. As a senior member of the underwriting team, you will also mentor junior underwriters and contribute to process improvements that enhance accuracy, efficiency, and member experience.

What you'll do:

• Review and analyze indirect loan applications, credit reports, financial statements, and supporting documentation.
• Make sound credit decisions within assigned authority and escalate complex cases as needed.
• Ensure underwriting decisions comply with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Identify and investigate potential fraud or misrepresentation in loan applications.
• Collaborate with dealerships and third-party vendors to resolve application issues and maintain strong relationships.
• Provide guidance and informal training to junior underwriters.
• Recommend and support process improvements to enhance underwriting efficiency and accuracy.
• Monitor underwriting metrics and trends; report performance indicators to leadership.
• Stay current on industry trends, regulatory updates, and best practices in indirect lending.

What you bring:

• 3–5 years of experience in indirect underwriting or consumer lending.
• Strong knowledge of credit risk analysis, lending guidelines, and regulatory compliance.
• Proven ability to make independent credit decisions and manage complex cases.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Experience working with dealership networks and third-party vendors preferred.
• Ability to mentor and support junior team members.
• Proficiency in loan origination systems and underwriting tools..
