Senior Inspector (Bridge Painting)

About the role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Inspector to join our field team for bridge painting projects in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. This role will support ongoing infrastructure improvements by ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance in bridge painting and related construction work. The Senior Inspector will work on-site and collaborate closely with contractors, consultants, and internal project stakeholders.

What you'll do

• Oversee and inspect contractor work to ensure compliance with contract requirements, specifications, and safety standards.
• Review project plans, materials, quality control reports, and design submittals.
• Monitor and support implementation of Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (MPT) plans.
• Evaluate containment systems, steel surface preparation, coatings, and air sampling protocols.
• Coordinate pre-construction surveys, mobilization, site prep, and final site cleanup.
• Provide field coverage and detailed daily reports on contractor activities and project progress.
• Interface regularly with contractors and internal teams to review schedules, integrate work plans, and resolve site issues.
• Exercise stop work authority when unsafe practices are observed.
• Assist in the review of contractor invoices based on work progress.
• Support the project closeout process, including document archiving and demobilization.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in bridge painting, construction inspection, and project management.
• Certified Coatings Inspector (CIP Level II or BCI II); certification must remain valid throughout the project.
• Prior experience working on infrastructure or railroad-adjacent construction projects is strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of abrasive blasting, containment systems, and coating applications.
• Familiarity with maintenance and protection of traffic standards and specifications.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and platforms such as Asite and AutoCAD.
• Must hold and maintain Roadway Worker Protection training certification.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to travel quickly between job sites as needed.

The expected salary range for this role in the New York City Metropolitan Area is $30 - $70 per hour. The total compensation, including salary and bonuses, is determined by various factors such as experience, skill level, location, and qualifications, which are evaluated during the interview process
