What We Do:

Payscale's Onboarding & Education organization is responsible for the first part of the customer journey, ensuring customers are receiving maximum and sustained value from our products from the very beginning of our relationship with the end goal of making sure that our customers renew at higher rates. Our Onboarding team is responsible for ensuring new clients receive maximum value quickly from the Payscale suite of products with a focus on product adoption. Our Implementation team is responsible for assisting clients with the technical set-up and initial training. Our Education team ensures that our customers and end-users have access to high-quality training options throughout their entire life cycle.

What You Do:

Reporting to the Director of Customer Education, the Senior Instructional & Video Designer serves as the lead specialist in the creation of instructional materials including video tutorials, multimedia courses, and educational collateral in support of Payscale's customers. Through the use of instructional design theories and tools, the Designer works with subject matter experts to create high-quality learning content that fosters increased understanding of Payscale's products and services.

This is a high-visibility role within an exciting area of the business with a chance to quickly make a difference.

Essential Responsibilities

Researches and organizes information and writes/directs instructional materials (tutorials, audio and video scripts, storyboards, role plays, games, navigational text, tests, etc.) that transform complex information into professionally written, clear, interactive multimedia instruction.

Oversee a video creation program for instructional videos that are housed in product, knowledge center, and online community focused.

Work closely with Marketing team and graphic designer(s) to create style guides for videos as well as intro/outro stings and consistent formatting that represents the Payscale brand.

Structures course content and develops course outlines, determines user pathways and feedback to create instructional and navigational templates, and selects presentation media based on an awareness of the strengths of the many separate media that comprise multimedia (i.e. video, e-Learning software, etc.)

Conducts needs/audience analysis, develops training objectives and lesson plans, and creates high-quality custom course work to meet individual customer/employee needs.

Works independently, applying intensive and diversified knowledge in broad areas of assignments.

Performs a wide variety of professional tasks, which demand a high level of creativity and imagination, as well as a thorough knowledge of the applicable needs and expectations of employees/customers.

Applies tested instructional design theories, practices, and methods.

Determine and apply assessment instruments to measure learner progress.

Required Experience & Education

BA/BS degree in instructional design, educational technology or similar.

4+ years of proven work experience in instructional design and/or animated video creation, preferably at a technology-based company.

Excellent knowledge of learning theories and multimedia instructional design models.

Solid knowledge of video and course development software.

Visual design skills and ability to storyboard. Preference given to candidates with graphic design skills as well.

Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, and audio/visual scripts.

Ability to manage multiple competing priorities, rapidly adapt and respond to customer requests and timeline changes.

Highly collaborative, organized, and execution-oriented with strong presentation skills.

Excellent project management skills that emphasize attention to detail, timelines, and work quality.

Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to be flexible in project situations. Ability to research, analyze and provide a solution to newly identified issues.

Able to be successful in a fast-paced environment that rewards hard work and self-motivation.

Superior relationship and communication skills (both verbal and written).

Compensation

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base salary range for this position is $82,000 - $123,400, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. This position is also eligible for an annual corporate bonus of 10%. If you are hired at Payscale, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors - we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider any internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth. We also offer a generous compensation and benefits package (more information on benefits listed below).
