Senior Lawn Laborer (Seasonal) 
 

Reports to: Lead Groundskeeper                                                                                         
 

Salary (Grade): $20.62 (G15-E)                                                                                           

Status:  Seasonal FT (Non Exempt)  

                                                                                                                                                                      

Location:  Facilities Department located in Winnebago, Nebraska 
 

Condition of Employment:  Position will end on or before September 30, 2025                  
  

Job Purpose & Position Overview 
Must be skilled and knowledgeable of outside maintenance and upkeep and have the ability to work independently.  Work involves the performance of varied types of grounds keeping to include upkeep; following established routines of maintenance and grounds keeping duties; upkeep of all tribal properties and cemeteries within the Winnebago Tribal Facilities Department. Specific instructions are received on all unusual jobs. 
 

Specific Job Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Demonstrate the Winnebago Tribe’s core mission, vision, and values. 

  • Responsible for sweeping and clearing debris from all tribal buildings and entry ways. 

  • Will mow and weed whip tribal properties as assigned. 

  • Will assist with beautification and landscaping as necessary. 

  • Will clear roadsides along Hwy 75/77, BIA 3 & 17, other streets from litter as needed. 

  • Will work in all areas of the Facilities Department as needed. 

  • Must clean all entryways to all tribal properties on a daily basis. 

  • Must be able to provide a written report of completed work orders or daily logs. 

  • Will assist in mowing tribal cemeteries and three tribal parks. 

  • Will assist in cutting/splitting wood for funerals, ceremonies, and for those tribal members using wood-burning stoves in their homes. 

  • Duties listed are only an illustration of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position. 


Required Qualifications/Skills: 
  • Must have a minimum of 3-year experience in all phases of the grounds keeping field 
 Education Preference:  
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. is preferred. 

Work Environment: 
  • Both indoor and outdoor assignments are involved with frequent prolonged exposure to inclement weather. All groundskeepers may be required to work extended or irregular hours, including nights, weekends and holidays with frequently rotating shifts and duty stations. Assignments are subject to change without advance notice. 

Training Requirements: 
  • Must attend all department meetings and training courses as directed by Lead Groundskeeper and/or Facilities Manager. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Normal to heavy work, which includes the ability to lift over 75 lbs. 

  • Regularly required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time and use hands and feet to operate lawn equipment and company vehicles. 

  • While performing daily duties, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. 


Mental Requirements: 

  • Reading, writing, calculating 

  • Above average social interaction skills 

  • Reasoning/Analysis 

  • Works with minimal to no supervision 


Language Requirements: 

  • Must possess the ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently. 

  • Must be able to continually and effectively employ professional verbal and written communications skills.
