Your Impact
Demonstrate a “Safety First” focus
As a technical lead, mentor and develop high performing underground hard-rock modeling and planning teams
Perform geological data compilation, validation and interpretation, prepare geological databases, prepare geological maps and sections and perform geological modelling in a variety of industry standard geological modeling software packages.
This will require working on projects with some supervision by a Professional Geologist;
Conduct and lead a full range of underground hard rock mine engineering functions, including:
Preparation of technical documents including public disclosure documents for Mineral Resources and Reserves according to SEC S-K 1300, NI 43-101, and JORC Code 2012 guidelines
Support both the engineering and geologic aspects of projects as necessary.
Apply WSP’s Project Management standards to manage all aspects of projects.
Work collaboratively with engineers and technical staff to develop the skills and procedures needed to effectively deliver engineering and consulting assignments.
Serve as an internal technical resource and provide guidance and mentorship to junior-level staff.
Identify, develop, and follow through on new business opportunities.
Mentor staff to support their growth and professional development.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in geology or closely related field
Registration, or have the ability to register, as a Professional Geologist or Geologist
A minimum of 10 years relevant post education experience in underground hard rock geology with an on exploration, grade control and resource evaluation.
Mine operations, and underground exploration and resource geology experience are assets
Experience as a consulting underground geologist or with a technical services role in underground hard rock geology and modeling within a mining company
Strong English technical writing skills with experience writing proposals and technical reports.
Strong organizational, analytical, and strategic planning skills
Appropriate experience in utilizing geological data analysis and modelling software packages such as MineScape, Datamine, MineSight 3D, Vulcan, Surpac, Gemcom, Leapfrog, ArcGIS, Strater, and GlobalMapper.
Understand the key technical requirements and deliverables required for pre-feasibility and feasibility studies related to mining and public disclosure documents (NI 43-101, S-K 1300, JORC).
Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing intricate ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
Strong self-leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with clients, regulators, project managers, and employees at all levels of the organization.
Works independently to provide guidance and leadership to mid-level to senior level team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.
Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, discipline-specific design software, technology, and tools.
Experienced with providing critical review for documents and preparing technical deliverables and plans with a high degree of complexity.
Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, computations, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment.
Ability to travel internationally and to remote project locations
