Job Description:

The Industry Relations team is the organization trusted to fulfill leadership positions in Payments industry bodies and direct the participation of subject matter experts from across Discover Global Network. You’ll help manage the strategy of Discover's participation within industry bodies connected to Payments, Commerce and related technologies. You’ll be responsible for managing research and analysis of industry trends across the payments ecosystem to help influence the strategic product roadmap.

Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.
RESPONSIBLITIES:
Demonstrate the ability to fulfill leadership positions in industry organizations, representing Discover with diplomacy alongside senior industry peers.
Have a balance of business and technical acumen so as to understand and interpret disparate industry developments, how they may relate to one another, and their potential impact to Discover.
Have excellent communication skills to ensure industry developments are effectively communicated internally to the relevant audiences, including senior leadership. Be an internal advocate for the Industry Relations team, identifying opportunities to demonstrate how we deliver value.
Have a natural curiosity about payments balanced with the foresight to determine the developments that will potentially be most relevant and impactful to Discover.
Conduct market research and analysis of industry developments to identify implications and opportunities. Lead scenario development & related responses. Manage analysis of complex issues to define a balanced external position.
Manage strategy execution to build alliances and represent Discover at senior levels within industries related to payments, commerce and emerging technologies.
Facilitate and influence subject matter experts and extended cross-department staff in strategic assessment of industry developments and proposed changes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration & Management, Information Technology, Social Sciences or related field
6+ years of Technical Product Management or related
6+ years of Key payments standards and specifications in the areas of chip, authentication, data, IoT and others
In lieu of a degree, 12+ years of Technical Product Management or Related; 12+ years of Key payments standards and specifications in the areas of chip, authentication, data, IoT, and others

Compensation:
The base pay for this position generally ranges between $103,000.00 to $174,200.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
