Job Title: Senior Linus Systems Administrator
Location: 14th and C Streets, SWWashington D.C., District of Columbia20228

· SUMMARY
The Bureau of Engraving and Printing’s (BEP's) core mission is to design and manufacture high-quality security documents that meet customers' requirements for quality, quantity, and performance, as well as counterfeit deterrence.
Possess a working knowledge of systems administration technologies, notably Linux operating systems, as well as networking protocols, topologies, and security architectures.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers to ensure optimal performance and uptime.
· Monitor system resources for performance issues and identify / resolve bottleneck issues.
· Perform routine maintenance, including patch management, updates, and backups to ensure system integrity and data recovery.
· Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls to maintain secure and efficient operations.
· Configure and troubleshoot networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NFS, FTP, SSH, HTTP/HTTPS) to ensure reliable connectivity and data transfer.
· Collaborate with network engineers to integrate Linux systems with broader network infrastructure.
· Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate risks.
· Ensure compliance with organizational policies and industry standards by configuring systems and maintaining audit trails.
· Respond to security incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective measures.
· Mentor junior administrators and share expertise in Linux systems, networking, and security best practices.
· Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and network topologies for operational continuity.

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Business, Management, or related discipline from an accredited institution
· 10 or more years of experience in Bachelor's degree discipline.
