Blue Ops is hiring a Senior Manager to join our growing team in Minneapolis! Our firm specializes in strategic FP&A advisory, operational finance, and business analytics for small to mid-sized businesses and private equity portfolio companies.
This Senior Manager will serve as a site-level financial leader for our manufacturing clients, acting as a Plant Controller responsible for cost accounting, operational reporting, and financial performance management. This position is ideal for someone with deep manufacturing finance experience who thrives in a hands-on, analytical, and fast-paced consulting environment.
THE ROLE
As a Senior Manager on the Financial Operations team, you will lead plant-level finance engagements, owning end-to-end financial processes, driving operational insights, and enhancing profitability. You’ll partner with client plant leadership to establish financial discipline, improve reporting accuracy, and strengthen cost control initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
Act as the Plant Controller for assigned manufacturing clients, managing all aspects of site-level financial operations.
Own cost accounting processes that include standard costs, BOMs/routings, overhead absorption, PPV, and labor/usage variances.
Ensure accurate and timely COGS reporting, inventory reconciliation, and monthly close activities.
Lead variance analysis (price, usage, efficiency) and present insights to operations and leadership teams.
Partner with client plant management to improve production efficiency, reduce scrap, and enhance yield performance.
Maintain and validate ERP/MRP data to ensure accuracy across cost and inventory elements.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning at both plant and corporate levels.
Lead small project teams and mentor analysts supporting client engagements.

Experienced in manufacturing finance or cost accounting, with strong analytical and operational understanding
A confident communicator who can bridge finance and operations

Process-oriented, detail-focused, and driven to identify continuous improvement opportunities
Excited to lead client relationships and deliver measurable financial results
Able to travel periodically to client sites
WHAT YOUR RESUME SHOWS
7–15 years of relevant professional experience, ideally within manufacturing finance, FP&A, or cost accounting
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or CMA preferred)
Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, cost accounting, and variance analysis
Advanced Excel and financial modeling capabilities
Experience partnering cross-functionally across operations, supply chain, and leadership
Exposure to Lean / Continuous Improvement practices
Private equity or multi-site manufacturing client experience preferred
