Fike Corporation, a rapidly growing international manufacturer of pressure relief, explosion protection, fire suppression and detection equipment, has an opportunity for a Senior Manager, Environmental Health &Safety  position. Fike is a privately held business located in Blue Springs, MO with over 400 employees locally & over 1,200 employees worldwide.


Job Summary:



The Senior Manager, Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) leads the organization’s environmental, health, and safety programs, ensuring strict adherence to applicable laws, standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., 45001, 14001, OSHA, EPA) . This role owns the EHS strategy, risk prioritization, and cross-functional execution of the safety management system. Serving as a bridge between tactical safety operations and organizational strategy, this position is responsible for managing and developing the EHS team.



 Primary Responsibilities:




  1. Manages and develops the EHS compliance team, providing guidance and resource allocation for EHS Managers and Safety Specialists.

  2. Develops and maintains the overarching environmental and safety compliance framework across all applicable jurisdictions and facilities.

  3. Serves as the primary interface with regulatory bodies, certification agencies, and auditors.

  4. Leads internal and external health, safety, and environmental audits, inspections, and regulatory submissions.

  5. Oversees the master registry of EHS certifications, permits, and ISO standards, actively managing renewals and surveillance audits to avoid business disruption or regulatory fines.

  6. Establishs EHS compliance risk assessments and mitigation plans.

  7. Leads advanced process safety and hazard analyses, utilizing techniques such as Hazard and Operability Studies (HazOps), Layer of Protection Analysis, and Event Tree analysis to proactively identify and mitigate enterprise-wide risks.

  8. Drives formal change control by reviewing engineering, design, process, and facility changes for environmental and safety impacts prior to implementation.

  9. Leads advanced incident investigations for health, safety, security, or environmental hazards.

  10. Drives robust corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and root cause analyses tied to regulatory nonconformance.

  11. Ensures that EHS training programs across the facility align with regulatory requirements.

  12. Leads enterprise-wide chemical hazard assessments, hazardous material communication (HAZCOM), and hazardous material handling and disposal (HAZMAT) programs.

  13. Governs the specific protocols for Hazardous Material Information System (HMS) labeling and storage to ensure full regulatory compliance.

  14. Ensures processes minimize overall environmental impact and promote sustainable business practices.

  15. Ensures that any direct report or mentee receives regular performance feedback, prompt resolution of problems, and the time and opportunity to grow professionally.

  16. Responsible for the identification of training needs, development, guidance, coaching, performance reviews and feedback, and all necessary leadership related actions for team members.

  17. Maintains the confidentiality of all information processed.

 Work Environment:



Work will be performed in an office environment and an industrial/manufacturing setting. The role requires the physical ability to evaluate equipment, machinery, and facility conditions for hazards. Requires regular communication with internal personnel, executive leadership, and external regulatory bodies. Essential functions include communicating effectively with others, moving throughout the office to perform daily tasks, and operating standard office equipment (such as computers, copiers, and phones). Domestic or international travel to conduct surveillance audits or site assessments may be required.



 Job Qualifications:



REQUIRED: A Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field or an equivalent level of experience. Ten years or more of experience in EHS, regulatory compliance, or safety engineering. Proven leadership, people management, and program ownership experience. Strong knowledge of relevant regulations and industry standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA, ISO 45001 & 14001).


PREFERRED: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar industry certification. Lead Auditor Certification. Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.


 


Compensation: The pay range for this position is $109,728 to $137,173 a year. May increase depending on the level of experience of the candidate.
